For those of you who miss the good food and great service at 'Ohana I found a surprise for you. It's called Texas de Brazil. It's located at the far end of International Drive, way down by the Belz Factory outlet. I've been wanting to try this place for a few weeks, and finally got a chance at dinner this evening.
The service was awsome! Everyone from the hostess, to the two servers, and the server assistant were on top of the game. Our water glasses and bread basket remained full at all times, dirty plates where taken away immediatly, and everyone was very genuinely nice. I noticed three well groomed managers walking the floor at all times checking on things. (Disney take note, managers walkng the floor keeping an eye on the operation!!!)
After getting an explination of how things were going to work we attacked the salad bar. This thing is huge, and could quite possibly be a meal in itself. It included a kettle of soup, black beans and rice, and the salad bar had selections that you rarely see on a salad bar. Hearts of Palm, Baby ear corn, Buffalo Mozzarella Cheese, shrimp, artichoke hearts, meats and cheeses, really more than should be offered before an all you can eat dinner. After the dirty salad plates were taken away we flipped over our little stop signs as a signal to the "goucho's" roaming the room with meat that we were ready for the food fest to begin. Immedialty our server arrived with the garlic mashed potatoes, and the goucho's started comming by with meat. Bacon Wrapped Filet Mignon, Leg of Lamb, Lamb Chops, Flank Steak, Parmesian Chicken, Sausage, ans Sirloin Steak were the offerings this evening. when you have had enough you simply flip the green light sign back to a stop sign, and the gouchos stay away from your table. The food was excellent in quality and variety. It's all you can eat just as 'Ohana, and you can go back to salad bar all night. We both enjoyed a cocktail, both were $5.95 but were strong enough that one was enough with dinner. The price is a little high for my taste ($39.95 per adult) but this would not stop me from going back. They also have an internet club where you can recieve coupons for free dinner on your birthday, discount cards and the normal things restaurants do with a mass email list.
I would recommend this place to anyone who really misses the quality of 'Ohana, they have a web site, but I'm not sure I should post that here. It is a chain baised out of Texas, so there are others around the counrty.
The highlight of the evening was when we complimented the server assistant on her service. She smiled and in the cutest way said "it's not Rocket Science, I keep your water and bread filled all evening" I busted out laughing and wanted to say "EXACTLY MY POINT! Then why is it so hard to get decent service at some Disney restaurants?"
Hope you have the chance to enjoy!
