Alternative to Backpack AND Fanny pack??

This year I'm going to try something new. I found a small backpack that converts to an over-the-shoulder purse (the straps zip apart to use as a backpack, and zip together to use as a purse over the shoulder). It also has a larger inside pocket that rests against your back (a great place for a wallet, since pickpockets wouldn't be able to access it without you feeling it). I have never tried a backpack before, and have previously relied on either a fanny pack (bulky and not too attractive) or a smaller, over-the-shoulder crochet purse which can be worn across the body. I'm going to take my crochet purse as a back-up this year, in case I decide I don't like the backpack.

Good luck finding something!

Small Messenger Bag!

Backpacks are too bulky, and hard to take on the attractions. (ok- I am beyond the diaper and formula stage...) My messenger bag is sized like a large purse, and does not interfere with running through crowds, sitting on the bus, or riding the attractions!

Is it the Chelsea bag from Lazy Girl Designs? I just got the pattern for it with the intent of making one for our trip (and holiday pressies as well).

DH doesn't mind being the pack mule with the large back pack, but I got tired of the time it took to get arranged on rides.. so we got him a fishing vest. It worked great! :goodvibes

I bought a small messager bag at Old Navy for 5.00 why it was on clearance and loved that bag. Everytime i go out it goes with me and hands free for the whole trip.

Another way to wear a fanny pack not around the waist but as a sling across your body thats what I do when I can't find the messager bag.

It's actually one that I bought - it's leather and would make a great alternative to an everyday purse. Have not seen any fabric ones out there in stores yet (unfortunately, I don't sew).

These bags are so light weight, and they pack wonderfully. They have all sorts of styles and colors. I have one that I wear across my body, but if you want to, it adjusts to a back pack or a shorter shoulder bag. It's small enough and light weight to run with. It has a top handle so that if you remove it quickly from your body the top handle helps you grab it quickly (like hopping on a ride).
I have several different types and colors!
