Alternate cruise line board

I'm not really sure how I should do this but here goes:

There seems to be quite a few people recently that are interested in RCCL and other cruise lines. I know the idea came up a few month ago about possible adding a message board for RCCL or other lines to the DIS.

I was wondering if people were interested in that, other than me! I love this website, and the people here are so friendly and helpful, more so I have found than at cruisecritic.com, but I just can't afford to do DCL again.

Dreams Unlimited has ventured out into selling other cruises, so maybe they would sponsor it too? I know I booked through them for my adventure of the seas cruise, and they gave me the best price I found on the web! with great service to boot!

I know moderator's are required. I don't know what that entails, but I wouldn't mind volunteering for it, if necessary, I'm on here everyday anyway!

I guess, the reason for my post, is to see how many other's are interested, and if there are a lot, if the powers that be here at the DIS would consider it.

If this is an inappropriate post, moderator's please feel free to delete it, but I wasn't sure how to go about putting the suggestion out there!

Personally, I'd be very interested in it. I've done the cruiscritic board.....with a stress on the critic part! I got mowed over like an ugly dandelion on a golf course when I raised concerns about cruising right after 9/11! They were brutal to me, and the moderators never intervened........I ran fast from there, to the warmth and security of the DIS from that point on!!!

I would love to see this added. Like you said, everyone seems to be so helpful and kind around here. I have even sent my DSIL to the Dis cruise site just to check out the info on Cozumel even though she is going on the Rhapsody. Hope someone gives this some thought.

You are on to a great idea.

I too would have an interest in moderating if need be. I am a cruise line junky and spend an inordinate amount of time hopping from cruise board to cruise board. It would be nice to have it all nice and tidy here where I first learned to love the cruising industry.

As much as I love DCL as i have 2 children and Disney is the best when it comes to crusing with kids, but when the opportunity arrives that just me and DW take a cruise I know it will most likely be on Sliver Seas or Crystal so I am always looking for opinions on them.

I went to WDW (land only) in Feb. and I got hooked on these boards. Well now we won't be going back for at least 4 years but we will be going on RCCL in a little under 2years. I have been searching for some thing like this with cruises. I only found one and it was not monitered very well and got off subject and was not ratedG. Please say Yes!

I would love to see this too. There are boards on the 'Dis' Boards for Discovery Cove and Sea World, which don't belong to Disney Corporation, but are of interest of people on these boards.
Perhaps the 'other' cruise forum could fall in that same kind of catagory. For people who are Disney Cruisers, but like to to other things too once in awhile. Disney Cruises is all I know as far as cruising. We have never been on another cruise line. We love Disney, but have thought about trying RCCL sometime.

I would love to see this also, maybe now that Dreams sells RCCL cruises and there are 2 volunteers listed above so far, maybe they will consider it.

I would love to see it too! I wanted to take the kids on DCL once for the experience but due to the cost we'll be back to RCCL. I would love coming to DIS boards to talk about all types of cruises. People are definitely nicer on these boards compared to cruisecritic!! Hopefully we'll hear something soon!

I also would like to see a talk about other cruise line, I have tried to read cruisecritic.com, I just don't get the information that I do here.
It would be great to hear about other cruise line, from people who also are really familiar with Disney.

I too would love to see something like an alternative cruise board!That way people who aren't cruising with DCL could still make plans to get together on their cruises,afer all we all have something in commen right off the bat or we wouldn't be here at all!!

We just booked Celebrity's Century. We are about to transfer the booking to Dreams Unlimited because they discount all the cruise lines and were great to do business with in the past. I would like to see another forum for other lines also. I have suggested it it the past and they have said if the support was there, they would do it.

I also would like to see a forum added on other cruise lines. Even though we have traveled DCL 3 times and have another one in Oct, we have decided to try the Carnival Pride since we have a 19 yr old DS who was bored on the last DCL trip. I did get information from other DIS members regarding our upcoming Pride cruise when we were looking at alternative cruises. I have gotten some information on cruisecritic, but those boards are not nearly as active as the DIS.

The only reason we did not do RCCL is because of the Miami or Ft. Lauderdale departure. We had planned to do WDW after the cruise. It will be interesting to see if having the Mariner of the Sea @ Port Canaveral affects DCL pricing. Also, Carnival will be bringing in their new ship in July "Glory" which is bigger than the Pride.

i was just thinking how having this very topic on the dis boards would be great.

i was browsing the cruisecritic and not only found it difficult to navigate through, it also seemed to take forever to open up to each link.

i agree about the unfriendlly comments, too.
one woman asked a question about her baby on board and got blasted with remarks about rude and inconsiderate she was for thinking about bringing a baby on a cruise and how it would ruin other people's trips! yikes!

Add me as another person who would like to have an alternate cruise board on these boards. I've tried cruisecritic and cruisemates, but I keep coming back here. We're on the Radiance of the Seas in July to Alaska, and are pricing other cruises, simply because Disney has gotten so expensive.
