Altering a booking

I was interested in altering my booking to do a split stay, if I do that does it remove my current booking and possibly my reservation or can I just change some days without loosing it?

If you choose the Modify option you can shorten your days, but you can't change to a split stay in one step. After you modify you can then book the other part of your stay as a new booking. Best to confirm your dates are available at the second resort before you modify your existing reservation.

Be aware you run the risk of your second resort booking up between the time you modify your existing reservation and then attempt to book the second. A workaround, if you have enough extra points, is to book the second part of your split stay, then modify your first reservation to shorten the days.

As above, you can’t modify just part of a reservation. In future, if you’ll plan a split stay, it’s best to book 2 separate reservations at your home and then modify one at 7 months. If what you want isn’t available at 7 months, waitlist it. If it doesn’t come through, call or chat MS and ask them to combine the two reservations, assuming they’re exactly same villa size, view, etc.

To add, MS can see how many rooms are available so you can always call them before you try.

There is a way to use developer tools to figure it out, but honestly, it’s not something I really understand or could ever get to work when I tried!!! Lol

You can get to it by seeing the background calls made to the server, which can be achieved by pulling up your browser's devtools (ctrl+shift+i or cmd+shift+i on a mac). These service calls will be under the Network tab, can limit the noisy traffic by setting the filter to "calendar-availability" which is the last portion of the url the site uses to get availability info. These calls to the server are made when you're browsing the calendar. Wish they just put that info on the UI without the need to do this, but I guess they might think it'd cause more issues than help.

Thank you for sharing! It still doesn't help me...but I hope it helps those who can figure it out!!! LOL

“Altering” a booking is a felony lol. “Modifying” is the preferred legal way to do it. Original booking is held until you click the “personal use”..submit part. Can exit at any time in a modifying search session. Nothing will change.
