Al's Toy Barn: Worth a Trip to MGM?

We haven't decided yet if we will be checking out MGM on this next trip... we didn't go last trip, either.

Anyway-- My DD is currently in love with Toy Story and Toy Story2 and, OF COURSE, Jessie and Bullseye!

We would consider buying here those toys on the trip-- will they have them at Al's Toy Barn? Will they be ridiculously expensive?
And-- is the toy barn themed really closely to the movie? if so-- we'll add MGM to our plans.

Also-- would Once Upon a Toy at DTD have them?

There are a number of interesting things at MGM for younger kids. I would go for pictures and autographs of Jesse and Bullseye but I'd also go see everything else.

My kids have loved MGM since they were very young.

My son STILL loves the Toy Story movies--and Buzz and Woody, since he was about 2 and now he's 6. We loved MGM--it was our favorite part of Disney. Now, maybe I'm mistaken and I totally missed something, but all Al's is, is a place to wait in line to get Buzz, Woody and Jessie's autographs. I didn't notice Al's actually being a "store". We purchased a "baby" Buzz outside of Al's (at a cart) and got Woody at MK (also at a cart).

They do sell Toy Story items at Once Upon a Toy--because we went there our last day and let him pick out one last item before heading home.

Al's Toy Barn isn't an actual place. It's a false front of the store. It's really just a backdropped used for the Character pictures. I believe you can take picture with Buzz, Woody and Jesse there.

Woody and Jess were in MK last week

They had many of the new Disney Channel regs.in MGM signing.

You should have no problem finding Toys related stuff in most of the parks and DTD.

:rotfl2: Here I kept wondering why the darn place was never open for business! :rotfl2:

My kids adored MGM on our last trip. I even had to change our itinerary because they wanted to do a 2nd day there!

Oooo...don't skip MGM!!! It is such a great park! The kids LOVE it!!! Meet and greets are much easier there and the whole atmosphere of the park is so laid back. We are taking a special trip this year just to concentrate primarily on MGM. We'll hit the other parks too but mainly MGM. I went years ago and didn't think much of it but now I love it! It actually has shade to walk in! Give it a chance. You will love it. princess:

My kids loved MGM in January! They were 2 and 4. Al's Toy Barn was the only place we met Buzz (his ride was closed at MK when we were there, so we didn't see him) but we did meet Jessie and Woodie in Frontierland at MK. It is a really neat meet and greet and great backdrop for pictures.

We're going mainly for the Stars and Motor cars parade for DS7, DS5 and DD3!!

My kids love MGM. We must go 2 days when we are there. The store front does make for awesome pictures. It is the only place we have found BUZZ and such. They also have the green army men there. They had the Buzz spaceship too for a backdrop for a picture when we were there. There are also lots of other places for kids and pics. There is a statue of Flick from Bug's Life to do a photo of and such. Go!!! You won't regret it, I promise.
Have a good trip.

the parade is great for characters too not flashy with lots of float type things just characters walking around or in big old cars our girls loved it! we actually were at MGM for 1 and 1/2 of our 8 days beacuse the loved it so much!

We are going to go to MGM especially for the parade (love Cars, Toy Story, Monsters Inc, etc.!), and the new character dining experience at Hollywood & Vine (Jo-Jo/Goliath and Leo/June from Little Einsteins). When we were there last time (10mos and 2.5yo), we did the Playhouse Disney show. It was okay, but the boys weren't too into it. We'll try it again this time though and see if they will like it better now that they are a year older.

My family love MGM... there's a lot of characters and fun things to do and see there too. Wow, don't miss out on that great park... but you can also see Woody and Jessy and bullseye in MK in Frontiereland. That's where I got my pictures with the 3 characters... as for Buzz, he was in Tomorrowland but the wait was insane, so I passed.

My DD9 is really into art, so she is really looking forward to the tour at MGM where they do the animation. She is looking forward to having art tips. Don't know if she will get any, but she hopes so.

Plus...isn't Pizza Planet (Toy Story theme restaurant/arcade) in MGM??

Wasnt there a toy barn under a roof near the I Shrunk the Kids play area? I thought they sold some Toy Story stuff there. I save most of my shopping for DTD-World of Disney, Once Upon a Toy, and Mouse Gears (at Epcot). Those are my favs.
