I have a reservation xxxxxxx. I've already done online check in. I've just suddenly become very sick to my stomach. Can I still rent my reservation to someone else, even though I am technically already checked in?

You have to call member services. I have done this when I rented a confirmed reservation thru a broker. The broker had a specific way to tell MS to do this - if not done correctly, it couldn’t be attached to another MDE account. If you want to rent the reservation thru a broker, they can probably assist you with the call.

Removed details about reservation. But contact a broker to list it and they can help you with the process if you find someone.

Okay, thanks everyone. I was too sick to be on the phone , but okay enough now to look up brokers. If I don't get sick again overnight, maybe it was just a food poisoning and I will be able to keep my plans. 🤷

I hope it's just food poisoning. I came down with nausea and it turned out to be covid. I have been extremely sick with nausea and a sore throat for 9 days now. This Covid strain is much more like the flu than a cold. My husband caught it 4 days after me. I came down with it the first day of my vacation. I wouldn't wish this on anyone.

Do not know when your reservation actually starts but be aware that during the pandemic, DVC followed a policy of returning all points in a reservation to their original position, i.e., no holding status, if one had to cancel as a result of having covid. (I actually did one such cancellation the day before we were supposed to arrive.) That may still be an option and you can call MS to see if it can be done.

I'm going to test for COVID today. I didn't throw up overnight, but I have a bad headache and am still queasy. I'll call MS and see if they can do anything and if not, I'll talk to a broker. Such a huge disappointment, but there's a lot worse things in life. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Just wanted to post an update for those who are curious. I called MS and was told that they could change the name on the reservation up until the day before arrival. They said I would have to be at the hotel in person to change the name the day of.

I was on hold waiting to speak to a broker, but ended up hanging up before I reached a live person. I decided to put the gamble on myself and I will see how I feel the day before. If I am still sick, I will just cancel and take the chance on booking from holding. I'm somewhat local to my resort (90 miles) and it's possible that I can get several one or two night stays before the end of May, which is when the points will expire.
