Alpine Inn???

I am trying to make this last minute trip fit in to our budget. I need some advice. Anyone ever stay at the Alpine inn? If so please tell me about it. Walk time to the park, cleanliness, thank you so much.

I have read good things about it over on mouseplanet. Seems to be a quietly perfectly fine motel.

It's way down on Katella, which can be a hike, but I'm sure others will chime in with shortcuts or other ways to shorten the walk.

Someone said you can cross the street and take the tram in from that parking lot right there. Lion King tram I believe. Which makes it pretty darn good location.

I haven't stayed there but I know where it is. The Alpine backs up to the Lion King parking lot. You can cut through the parking lot via the pedestrian entrance about a half a block down. You don't need to cross any streets. If the parking lot is open then you can catch the tram to the front. If it's not you can hike to the front. Not sure if this would save any time/walk as opposed to going the other way on Katella and then walking down Harbor.

I've always seen positive reviews for it. But for the trips I would have considered it, it wasn't available.

We stayed at the Alpine Inn September 2006. It was ok for the price. The bedding was a bit shabby and someone in our party got lice (but I don't know if it was the hotel or the park, plane, etc. but we tracked it down to that time frame).

The housekeepers were good in that they came in everyday. The continental breakfasts are just a packaged pastry. There was free parking and a small pool *but in the parking lot so it kind of seemed dangerous for kids*.

The walk was long, but not bad. At the end of the trip we looked with envy at the hotels closer to Disneyland on Harbor Avenue. We walked through the Lion King Parking Lot (the tram was not working on weekdays in September), behind DCA (near the ToT), but one day we were told we could not enter that way. It was a long walk, so keep that in mind.

Overall, if it is a good rate, it is not a completely horrible hotel, but I did not have the best experience there.

I stayed at Alpine Inn last February. It is a 2 story mountain lodge alike building. The room is nice and clean. They even have granite sink counter top. It locates across street of Anaheim Convention Center and is about 100 yards away from Disneyland south entrance. You don't need to take shuttle bus nor drive to Disneyland. Just walk.

Clerks and employees are friendly and helpful. It has Microwave oven, and refrigrator in room. They even offers free Wi-Fi. I had a good stay and will be back again.

Which entrance is that? I'm feeling a little bit brain-free right now b/c I'm not aware of a south entrance...

Thanks everyone and thank you for the link of hotels with the map. We have been so many times and we just never venture out to other hotels. We usually stay at Carousel inn, Paradise Pier. But i wanted to see what else was out there. Thank you all so much for the feedback.

We stayed at the Desert Palm next to Alpine Inn. In 2003 I had an off site ECV scooter that I rode down the block to a sort of entrance. It had concrete pillars in the drive way just big enough to ride thru into the Timon Handicapped Parking. And then I ride the tram that loaded next to TOT and went around to the offical DL Entrance.

We're considering renting an offsite ECV this time. Do you recommend it? What company did you rent it from?

Yes I do recommend renting offsite ECV. You can ride it to and from DL to your hotel, or to restaurants in the area.

I went 2 different time where I hurt the whole trip. That made me very cranky and not much fun to be around.

The next trip I rented a EVC It made a world of difference!! I could enjoy the trip with out hurting. And that made it a great trip!!!

I have always rented from Alan's with NO Problems! And if there is a problem they come and fix it!! I used them again Jan. 2008 they were wonderful.

It is distinctly "budget" but clean and well run. We grabbed the tram for the Timon parking lot if we were tired but in the mornings we simply walked in- 4 adults and a 5 year old (small enough to tire but too old for a stroller) had no problems.
