I'm flying to Orlando to visit with my brother the week of July 16-23rd.

He is going to work a double shift one day so he can take an extra day off for us to take a side trip somewhere (we haven't decided yet-- Miami, Key West, we don't know yet.)

He told me to pick something to do. He can drop me off and pick me up pretty easily-- there are down times where he works so he can pop in and out rather easily to transport me.

But what is the best thing to do in Orlando when you're alone for an entire day?
I love Disney but I'll be back down in September for an entire week so I was looking for something else.

He suggested Sea World but that is a lot of money for me to just go wandering around alone when I don't even really like the whole animal thing that much.

Anything else you all can think of? I've done Universal and IofA and left early both times.. :rolleyes1

In what area? Orlando is pretty big.

On Rollins there is the Science Museum and the Folk Art Museum and yet another museum where Rollins intersects Mills. That would keep you busy for some time.

If you like to shop there is always the Millenia Mall, or the Florida Mall. Not a huge fan myself, so couldn't really see spending several hours at either.

Downtown Orlando could do for a day's visit. Stroll, pop in and out of shops. Have something to eat. Visit Lake Eola... that sort of thing.

There is Leu Gardens, and the Birds Of Prey place, but they wouldn't really take a whole day either.

Could you take him to work and borrow his vehicle? That way you could move between places and pick him up when his work day ends?

Downtown Disney or Citywalk might be an option, both of those places has shopping and a movie theater....

Well he works in a movie theater so if I want to see in movies, I'd go there for free! Thanks for the suggestion though, movies are a great way to blow time.

He works on International Drive-- the new Regal + Imax in Pointe Orlando.
He lives on Milenia drive, so I actually knew about Milenia mall..
Maybe I'll just go watch movies at the Regal and poke around I-Drive all day?...

You could. I-Drive has a lot to offer. You can ride the trolly instead of walking all the way. Might be nice to stroll and poke here and there. Pointe Orlando, Festival Bay, the many outlets (other than the ones being refurbished)... You should find enough to keep you busy for the majority of the day.

I think it is fun to visit all the resorts. You can pick up a bus from Marketplace to any resort. I like to go to the Wilderness Lodge and walk the bike path to Fort Wilderness. From here, you can pick up a boat the MK then hop another boat to GF and Polynesian. At the end of the day, return to Marketplace and Downtown Disney for dinner, or add a trip to the Boardwalk area and have dinner at the counter at Beaches & Cream.

Good! Last I'd talked to him, he was scheduling himself a 16 hour day. He works 12 all the time but that would mean I'm going to be stuck there for 16 hours.
I figure I can poke around during the day and see movies once it gets dark and I won't feel comfortable being out/ everything is closed!

Hopping around resorts is another great idea! I've always wanted to see them all but always want to spend time in the parks while I'm there with a ticket in my hand!

Maybe on one of his other, shorter, days I'll have him drop me off at Disney and I can finally see all the other resorts! :thumbsup2

Thanks so much!
