SeaSpray -

Those pictures are awesome! Each puts me at the Poly immediately! I can read the posts and visualize some parts of the Poly, but looking over those pic's I can almost hear the hawaiian music playing in the background & the horn of the water taxi pulling up to the launch dock - Thanks!

We just booked the Poly for June 6th - 11th to celebrate DD's 16th birthday!!! :cool1::banana::woohoo::yay::dance3:

Our only other stay at the Poly was DD's 13th birthday when we did the land/sea vacation (which was amazing - best vacation ever!!). We haven't been back to Disney since... I can't wait!!!

:cheer2:

We are also celebrating DD's Sweet 16 at the Poly July 17-25. party::bday:

Hope your DD has a magical birthday:goodvibes

Can I share my excitement???? We are less than 3 months away from our 10th anniversary trip (just DH and I) and our 1st stay at the Poly! DD5 and DD3 were sad that mommy and daddy are going without them, so. . .

I booked a GV room/ Club level for Sept. 2-6 for a family mini-vacation! :cool1:We told DD5 that staying at the Poly is a reward for her- she has gotten good behavior stamps EVERY day this year in school AND learned to read in the first 3 months of 4K. She is beyond excited!

Thanks for letting me gloat a little!

We'll see you there - we're at the Dolphin July 8-15 then at the Poly CL until the 19th! DD is graduating this year - still can't believe it - so there will be a lot of celebrating going on! Can we move these tickers a little quicker? :)

I'm still a little unsure about how the TTC buses work versus the buses that pickup at the Poly stop.

I know I could take either a TTC or a Poly bus to return from AK or DHS -- but could I also pickup a bus early in the morning from the TTC to either AK or DHS? And if so, is this a way to "beat the system" on the crowded buses that are picking up at the Poly stop, especially, say, on an early magic day?

In other words, is it possible to take a bus from TTC to AK or DHS early in the morning, and if so, is it a better bet to be less crowded/more direct than the the Poly bus?

I was wondering this myself, and was actually contemplating conducting a little experiment during our trip (half the family one way, half the other way, and see who gets there first). I think it's pretty much the luck of the draw...how long it takes to walk to TTC, which depends on your longhouse assignment, and whether you just catch, or just miss, a given bus. The advantage of the TTC buses is that they are direct to the park; the Poly buses are resort buses and usually stop at at least one other monorail resort before heading to the park. It's definitely great coming BACK to the resort to just pick which one comes first.

On EMH mornings, I'd doubt if the TTC buses run as early as resort buses, since EMH is a benefit only for resort guests. We don't use EMH, so this won't factor in as part of our family's experiment.

Can't think of a more beautiful or relaxing place to celebrate. Hope to see you there! :wave2:

More questions....yet again...and im sure they won't be my last...

Im working on my ppwk to send back to IPO at Poly and just have a few questions first:

1. Wondering which is preferable given we're staying in a GV CL room: Patio
or Balcony? The patio is something I would choose if we were staying on
the lagoon side (to sit out and watch the beach/water) but now im
wondering since there isnt a whole lot to look at on the GV side would a
balcony be better?

2. Has anyone ever experienced an upgrade within the CL category of
rooms? I know that these are very few and far in between but it would be
nice to know it's a *possibility* that our GV view will turn into a LV or MK
view.

3. Is there anything else you can recommend we request for our honeymoon
stay? It's DFi first trip so I want to make sure it's as magical as possible.
We did put on a request for the wishes dessert party (if they ever decide
to bring that back)...Is turndown service automatically done or does a
request need to made for that?

Thanks for all your help!! This thread is addicting!!

1. As for balcony or patio. I had a balcony in 1988 for our honeymoon and it was awesome. I have heard that the patios are very nice. There's not a path directly in front of your patio. Remember the more flexible you are the happier you will be when they put you where they can.

2. Can't answer that.

3. Take advantage of all of the information out there. Find out what you want to do and just do IT! We had two parks on our honeymoon and no internet. We were there for 13 days and missed nothing. We are going in May for our 22nd ann. ( for only a week)and we will be doing more then we did for our honeymoon. If you can afford it do IT! When the babies come, it gets harder to afford. It took us 22 years to get back here and will be worth everything we have forsaken it just makes it better, IMHO ;)

2. Yes, I have read here on the boards that people have been lucky enough to be upgraded from GV to LV in CL. In fact, I would think that you are more likely to be upgraded there than if you were not staying CL. ;) There are plenty of reports of regular GV being upgraded to GV CL, too. Just know that it's not very common so please don't be disappointed if it doesn't happen.;)

3. Let then know it's your honeymoon. And yes, turndown in automatic if you are staying CL.

It is possible to get an upgrade to LVCL or MKCL! Your chances are greater in the off season!

3. Have you looked into reservations at California grill 1 hr before wishes? Lights are dimmed and wishes music is piped in! Maybe look into wishes cruise?
Sitting in a hammock together while sipping a lapu lapu!

Exactly. :thumbsup2

Same is true for the monorail and ferry to the MK. They will not work for EMH. Last I knew they didn't start until 8:30.

MsStinkerbelle, I forgot to tell you that there is no Gardenia room spray now at Boutiki. Sorry.:guilty:

johnsonet and Tess, thanks for the good wishes. Tess, I did take photos of the view and will try to post them when we get home. We're at THV this week.

I noticed breakfast sliders at Captain Cooks this past week. Has anyone tried them?

Not sure if any of you regulars to the Polynesian noted this somewhere in this thread, but I noticed they were playing a different resort music loop when there in Feb. When I was there in Mar of '09, they were playing the old one and then of course this Nov/Dec '09, it was the holiday one. I heard that old music loop so many times that I always wished they would add something new, but now that it is gone, I want it back. I miss those Polynesian tunes! :)

I'm so glad you mentioned this! I heard a song this past week that I didn't remember ever hearing at the Polynesian in the past. Of course, I can't remember what it is now :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:. But it is a very well known song but sounded strange to me at the Polynesian just because it was new to me anyway. I didn't realize the loop was new.

Hi BCV23 :wave2: Do tell... what IS a breakfast slider?? What kind of bread is used?

Did you enjoy the music though? Or was it a negative for a long-time Poly guest and fan??

I'll be interested to hear it again in Nov. It was so windy when we were there in Feb, that it was hard to hear. Plus it was cold, and I didn't have as much pool time as I normally do. Also, the speedway seemed to be very busy and loud. Rarely has it been noticeable in all our stays at the Poly. I jokingly wondered, if it had to do with the free rides they were giving to AP holders.

Hi johnsonet!:flower3: I enjoyed the music as always and really wondered if I had somehow missed that one song over the years. I guess I must be sort of oblivious. We didn't use the pools at all though so our experience was like Susie's.

I didn't hear the speedway last week. Just heard about the free ride along last night. I hope my DH gets a chance to do it this week.

I have a story about a wonderful Polynesian CM. Thursday night was really cold. I went to my car about 6:45 on Friday to go over to SSR to check in for the THV. There was thick frost on my windshield. Rental cars in FL do not have scrapers in them:rotfl: so I was using a plastic card to scrape when along came Emma. She asked if I needed help and preceded to use a card of her own to clear the other side. I know by the direction she took when we finished that she was leaving work. What a kind thing to do after a long night's work. Thanks for the magic, Emma!:wizard:
