We've had about 4 inches of snow already today and I'm spending the day reading about WDW and looking at Poly pictures. With the discount extended yesterday, I was able to apply it to our existing CL reservation and saved about $1600! And I booked our airfare yesterday and we added a day to the beginning of our trip to get the lowest fare.

With all the announcements last night about the MSEP, the new fireworks show, the new ToT sequence and effects, a special finale for Illuminations and something about AK nights, I wonder what else WDW has up their sleeve for the summer.:goodvibes I guess they are worried about Harry Potter.

Ok... other than checking here from my blackberry I havent been out on the boards. Where can I find all these new announcements?:surfweb:

We broke our all time record for snow fall this season! 71.6 inches!! This is making me want to escape to the Polynesian isles!! Or maybe just the Polynesian! Somebody tell me they are there and having a good time!?!?!:scared1:

Well, I think we've made our decision!

:cheer2:POLY CL!!!! YAYYYY!!!:cheer2:

DH said he's doing our taxes this weekend, and once he finishes, I can book the room! YES!

I hope it will be available when I call! If not, back to square one!

I always book as soon as we think we might be going because I don't want to find out that what I want is sold out!!!

Hope you get what you want!!!:goodvibes

How many rooms are in the Hawaii building?
Just wondering!
Thanks! :)

Not totally sure, but I remember it was something like 20 per floor x 3 floors, so roughly 60 rooms. There's a detailed map of the Hawaii building on Tikiman's website, so you could get an accurate count that way.:goodvibes

Thanks!!!
If it were up to me, I would have booked the minute he said, "YES" last night. But he wants to do the taxes before we make the reservation just so we know for sure that we can afford it! We also have another vacation planned for June to the OBX with his family, otherwise, this baby would have been booked a month ago! LOL

Is it easy to get to the Swan from the POLY?
Since I will have to POP for some meals, usually I am on FD...I am thinking of the Garden Grove character meal.

what do you think?

Not really. It's not easy to get from resort to resort. If you're staying at the Poly, I'd recommend more meals either in the parks or on the monorail line. If it were me, I'd take a taxi. Otherwise, you could take the bus to DHS then take the boat or walk to the Swan. That would most likely take quite a bit of your time...:confused3

Thanks!!!

I totally understand. I just book a room only when DH starts to think about it. I don't put down a deposit or anything -- just want to make sure that what we really want is available.;) Plus, once it's booked, DH has a habit of not making me cancel it! :rotfl:

I thought you had to put down a $200 deposit?

DH just emailed me...he has a friend who is a travel agent- he's going to check and see if he can get us a better rate! He must be excited, too!!! :)

Check the Disney Blog and the Theme Parks board. I get emails from the Mouse for Less and they sent announcements last night.

I had a funny dream last night. I dreamed that we had arrived at the Poly for our next vacation. When we walked into the lobby there was no one else waiting in the check in line. This made us super excited - we'd get checked in sooner. There were lots of CM's floating around, but no one would come and take care of us. Finally after waiting and waiting a CM came over to check us in, but part way through the process she just wandered away and started doing something else. Then we waited and waited for someone else to come and the whole thing started again - they would begin to check us in, but then would just wander away. This happened over and over ...
On second thought, this more a bit of a nightmare! It was horrible, finally being back at the Poly, but we couldn't check in!!! :scared1: :lmao:

Not for a room-only reservation made over the phone. If you make it online, you need the first night's rate, but if you call they will give you a "courtesy hold" for a week.;)

We just left AKL and I booked bounceback for mid-November at the Poly. I'm so very excited!

This will be the first time we have brought our boys to WDW, it'll be our anniversary, and also my mom's first WDW trip as well! Lots of celebrations!

In the ressie, I asked for connecting rooms if possible. Now I'm doing the research for longhouses. We're staying Garden View (because we're never in the room). My boys are 4 & 5 y.o. and LOVE trains, which is why we chose a monorail resort.

We won't be swimming, so proximity to the pool isn't an issue. I'd like to be somewhat close to the GCH, as mom might need less of a walk. I read in Passporters that Aotearoa has nice landscaping and a up-close view of the monorail.

What's the opinion on Aotearoa? Is there another longhouse that might suit us better?

Thanks for any info!

Samoa is near the GCH and overlooks the volcano pool (if you request to be on that side) and has connecting rooms. Fiji has GV rooms that overlook the marina (again, if you request that side) and is also very close to the volcano pool and GCH. I don't know if it has connecting rooms though.

ETA: While you won't be using the pool much, the views of the pool from Samoa (with the GF in the background) are really nice - there's some pictures somewhere in this thread

Raratonga might be an even better choice for you. Like Aotearoa, it has closeup views of the monorail for your boys and lovely landscaping for all of you. It is steps from the GCH. Aotearoa is close but Rara Tonga is even closer. Be sure to ask for monorail view as obviously the other side of the longhouse won't see it at all.:goodvibes

If your mother can manage short distances, perhaps just ask for monorail view and leave it at that??

I think all longhouses have connecting rooms. Every longhouse we've been in has had them. Most if not all rooms we've had connected.

Happy planning!:surfweb:

If I am staying LVCL in April would they have me in their system to email with questions?

If you are asking if Polynesian IPO has your reservation info... If you have questions or concerns you can call or email the IPO with your reservation number. They will look you up with your res#

I believe you only need to put down the $200 if it's a pkg, but not for room only.

I just did a room only and paid for just one night for a deposit. What I found surprising was that room only reservations can be cancelled 5 days before trip.

compared to the 45 days of package deals:confused3
