Aloha! ***Welcome to the NEW Poly FAQ***

I have learned (from lots of travels) that, if you get to your room, and something is broken, it is just better to ask for a different room right then and there... or else risk (as the OP went through) two days of crap....

Agreed. That is why we simply asked to be moved. They we extremely apologetic and one of the managers walked us into the new room to make sure it was acceptable. I think you just have to complain to the right person.

On another note, I asked for a crib. They gave me a pack and play. I called and the CM that I spoke with told me that was all that was available. I said OK thanks. I hung up called back spoke to someone else and they delivered my crib in 15 minutes!!

It happens everywhere. Not just the Poly, or Disney.

This is our first trip using ME. When you get to the ME area at the airport, are there large signs for where to board for each designated resort, or are several resorts grouped together onto one sign? Which ones are grouped for the Poly?

The reason I'm asking is that my DH and boys don't know we are staying there. I was hoping it to be a surprise until we pull up, but don't know if the surprise will last that long (unless they don't pay any attention to signs or our luggage tags......) My kids are going to be soo excited to stay here!

Anyone notice the difference in my signature? :lmao: We weren't planning a June trip, but we all know how that goes. . .it will be a shorter than normal visit this year, but better than no summer stay! :thumbsup2

The do not drop off in any particular order on a regular basis. The first time it was WL then the Poly and the second trip we stopped at CR first than Poly and the third time it was Poly first.

Hope that helps!

I don't remember but I am guessing that the CR and GF were probably grouped with the Poly. The signs are not huge, but at the same time hard to miss. The kids might not figure it out, but DH probably will.

The luggage tags are sort of a give a way though!!!!! You kind of can't miss what resort they go to! I think thats the idea of them, so you might be out of luck there! Kids maybe, DH not!

Yea! :cool1: Are you bringing the kiddos?

Now you can go say good bye to Chef Dick :sad2:

ugh. I've been seeing alot of bad reviews lately on the Poly. It's really making me second guess my decision to stay there. :(
Has this been happening alot lately???

Last May we had a few small issues at Poly ie Loose toilet, broken power strip some poor mousekeeping but we also has several breakdowns on our trip ie never got through Ellens world of energy, stuck in Carosel of progress for 20 minutes (still hear that song :lmao:) and Haunted Mansion stopped for a few minutes. If you look thoughout the boards it seems that maintainance is a problem throughout the MK not just the Poly. They probably have cut back on staff and expect fewer people to do more things thus the problems. Our hotel problems were fixed within hours so no big deal especially at 40% off. We complained about the rides after the third problem and got a Day Long fast pass :thumbsup2. Speak up about the little things and they will accomodate you nicely and it might prevent a bigger issue for the next guy. It took us 15yrs to get back so we tried to ignore issues as much as possible so we could enjoy the rest of the magic. That being said a broken AC is a MAJOR PROBLEM!!! Sorry my2disneyboys :sad2:

Thanks!! DH probably knows anyway and I just think he doesn't. When I asked him about upgrading to the Poly he said he didn't care, just don't break the bank. :rolleyes1 I don't think he will be surprised we are staying there since I fell in love with it on our first trip just eating there!

I was just hoping to really surprise the kids. They may not pay any attention to the signs. If they do I guess they get their surprise in the airport!!

Kids, hopefully--Chef Dick, nope--he will be on vacation for two weeks, coming back for one day and retiring. He may be meeting us for a visit while we are there though. :guilty:

Tess,

Chef Dick is going on vacation for two weeks??
We are going on June 4th and leaving on June 12th, is he going to be there then?
For some reason I can't see when you are going. If you are there when we are, let us buy you some drinks! We met you briefly last time we were there.

Well that is a bummer! I hope you will be able to see him. I am glad you get to take your annual summer trip! :flower3:

We will be there around June 19-26, 2010. You will have the pleasure of Dick's company while you are there. :thumbsup2 Sorry we won't be connecting this time around--drinks would have been fun. :woohoo:

Happy planning, Tess!

If you are staying CL, do you go into the lobby first, or do they take straight over to Hawaii as you arrive?
Thanks!

When you arrive, you approach the bell services desk. There's a sign on the counter that indicates concierge guests should check in with the captain. Just inform the first bell services person that makes contact that you are a concierge guest. They will contact concierge CMs and inform them of your arrival.

You will then check in at the Hawaii building with or without your luggage depending upon whether or not your room is ready. Have fun!

Tess is correct-but this last trip we were sent a letter to give to the valet desk-basically telling us to check in there & they will contact CL to let us know we were there...not sure if this is something new? We've stayed CL before so we knew what we had to do...:confused3 Either way they let us know our room was ready & immediately brought us over!

where is the bell services desk and valet desk? Are they outside or inside? Will I get to walk in to the GCH- or do they whisk me away like a celebrity! :rotfl: j/k!

Outside. Whether or not you are whisked away. . .depends. You can always turn down the cart ride and walk to Hawaii. Of course, GCH isn't going anywhere, you can walk through it anytime. :thumbsup2

Congratulations :cool1: I agree - short stay is MUCH better than no stay :cloud9:

It allows for a return in October for F&W Festival. I actually have that ticker in my signature as well. It shows up fine in my preview, but not at all in the signature--must be too much space/pixels with my pout picture. . . :confused3
