Hey, fellow Polynesian fans. :grouphug: We're supposed to have breakfast at Kona Cafe tomorrow. Is there anything I can check for anyone? :surfweb:

Hopefully you knocked back some 100% Kona coffee and macadamia nut pancakes for me. :goodvibes

I doubt you will be supplied with a step stool, due to the liabilty if someone where to fall off of said stepstool.

Never heard of these being provided. However, it's pretty easy to just get a little cheap one from the dollar store and pack clothes/other items around it. :thumbsup2

Has anyone stayed at Tokelau before? and if so how was it?

I haven't stayed in Tokelau but I've stayed in 2 longhouses near it (Hawaii, Samoa). It's pretty central to the resort (about equidistant from the GCH and TTC) and you've got a view of the quiet pool on one side and a garden view on the other. It's one of the newer longhouses and folks like it--especially the double sinks. :thumbsup2 Ain't Poly trip anticipation grand? :goodvibes

I orginally had my heart set on a TPV, now I'm starting to have doubts. Is it really worth the extra $$$? Will we take advantage of the view as much as it's worth? Or can we get just a good a view of the castle and or wishes from the beaches around the resort?

So glad to meet another 'Poly Obsessive Planner' :goodvibes . If it's your first trip to the Poly, I recommend a lagoon or TPV but it isn't required to enjoy the resort. While not as convenient as being in your room and seeing all the action (like the castle changing colors during the night), you can always go out to the beach to see the fireworks and EWP. Our first Poly trip we stayed lagoon view and spent a lot of time in the room. The other 2 trips we spent less time in the room so we went for garden view. Hope that helps! :thumbsup2

Most hotels are supplied with 'little people' conversion equipment - my assumption is that (while we were there) the GF had more stools than little people staying, so they give them out to other guests as a courtesy. Stools are made for standing on, more than a chair or other things around the room and by supplying something sturdy that is meant for climbing they actually protect themselves from litigation, more than invite it.

Actually Tokelau rooms have only 1 sink. Just wanted to clarify. Rapi Nui and Tahiti longhouses have double sinks.

I have seen a few times on the boards that people have put in their location request months before their stay. Is that really necessary? I thought the room assigners don't get the reservation info until a few days before and it was best to put in your request about 5 days before. I have to call Disney tomorrow to change my dates by a few days, should I ask them to note my request when I call or wait until a few days before the trip in May?
Also do you normally call and ask for the room assigners or fax the request if you do it a few days out?

Ok, so you all know my trip is not until April 2011 and several of you have assured me that it's not to early to start obsessively planning, so don't think I'm crazy!! :rotfl:
Anyway, DH and I spend some time going over the boards, tikiman pages and whatever else we could find to help us decide on a building/level room we would like to stay at the poly. I orginally had my heart set on a TPV, now I'm starting to have doubts. Is it really worth the extra $$$? Will we take advantage of the view as much as it's worth? Or can we get just a good a view of the castle and or wishes from the beaches around the resort? I'd love to hear any thoughts as we contemplate our decision. Also I should add, that my DS loves, loves, LOVES the monorail, so having a room with a view of the tracks would be so awesome for him, so we are considering that too... any thougths on areas where you get the best view of the monorail??

I appreciate any input!!

We went with the TPV room from Tahiti and loved it.

Here is a short video I shot with the webcam I had setup during our vacation, it about 19 min. long and you can hear the MK opening, trains and ferries.

ETA: I wanted to add that you can clearly see the castle from the room, the focal length on a webcam isn't very good, its made for close up shots so everything in the distance gets lost.

Hello everyone! It's been fun to read more about the Poly here and see that there are just as many avid Poly fans as there are GF fans.

We're planning our first trip to the Poly!!! It's reasonably last minute by DIS standards. Our twin boys, age 11, were supposed to be going on a 3 day outdoor education trip at the end of February. Now this might be lovely in some parts of the workd, but we live in Toronto, Ontario...and February can be cold and snowy! One of our boys is physically disabled, and with the combination of snow, ice, cold, accessibility issues that were possible going to make this quite a challenge, we made the only sensible decision...We're going to miss the trip and go to WDW!!! My hubby is not able to join us, so I am taking the boys, and their shared best friend. That way our able-bodied boy has a friend to ride with while I ride with Mark.

This is our 3rd WDW and 4th Disney trip as a family. I found the DIS before our first trip and love the access to info and friendly people. Whenever we are planning a trip, I make my way back here. So, we've had a WDW to the GF, a Disneyland Grand Californian trip, a Wish Trip (stayed at Give Kids the World and a few days on our own back at the GF...it was all absolutely magical) and now this trip. The prices at the GF were !!! and I wanted to stay club level because that makes it easier for us, and is a lovely treat. Our travel agent priced out options and recommended the Poly, in the Hawaii building and that's what we're doing!

The boys and I will be there from February 21-28th. We've got ADRs for some of our favourite places and some new ones too (like Kona). I think the boys will really enjoy the theming at the Poly, although they love the GF too. I love the convenience of the monorail!

Has anyone been to the Hawaii building lately? The boys have read a listing of the offerings (5-7) in the lounge and have picked some days they don't want to miss, just want to add on something from Captain Cooks or the sushi bar. I hope they haven't changed the order!

I'm sure I'll be back with more questions!

Alison

I could have sworn that the Poly has bike rentals.... am I remembering correctly or have I lost my marbles?

That was awesome! Thanks for sharing! Was that a ground floor room?

Are there any bad views on the 3rd floor hawaii building?
When my family and I stayed there in December 2007 we had a 3rd floor room which was #3510 and it came with a clear view of Cinderella's Castle. So I am going to assume that was one of their Club Level - Lagoon Views that was turned into a Club Level - Theme Park View, however that's just a guess.

So excited! I did the online check-in today. I had requested 3rd floor Fiji, overlooking marina. I can hardly wait to see what I get -that or some other lovely view. One cool thing about the Poly, from everything I read you really can't go wrong with a room view. :cool1::cool1::woohoo::woohoo:

I am getting more excited about my trip in July. This weekend I booked our flights (and got a suprisingly good deal), started to really plan out what dining reservations I wil have to make and also made our room request for third floor Tokelau. Has anyone stayed at Tokelau before? and if so how was it?

Sorry so late in responding, but wanted to say that we LOVE Tokelau! We requested it based on research our first trip and loved it so much we requested again 2nd trip (and will again in 2011!). We particularly like the East side of the building (opposite the quiet pool). The building is centrally located to the Volcano pool, GCH and TTC. It's a very quiet part of the resort. We also request first floor and love the grassy area off the patio. Just a step off the patio and wondeful lagoon/Space Mtn. views. This 2nd trip we weren't able to get our request for the first night, and we were in Fiji, 2nd floor opposite the marina, no balcony. Oh, what a difference. That never would have worked for us for a whole week, with no outdoor space at all. And the location isn't what we care for - Aloha show was loud there as well. Next day we happily moved to our "home" - Tokelau!!
