Hi everyone!

I am back from an 8 night stay at the Poly CL. It was fabulous!

Housekeeping was great! Sheets actually got changed daily.

Chef Dick was there, and the food was delicious. They did have fresh pineapple with caramel sauce each evening.

The view in the lounge was worth every penny spent to upgrade IMHO.

Amber and Alexander were so helpful. Amber had a runner go back to DD when I found a spot on my purchase. Alexander had a runner return to CM when we left our Tinkerbell cup and light there. They answered all of our questions and were as nice as could be.

Kona, Ohana and even Captain Cooks were super.

The volcano pool is down for a few weeks so we we taken to the GF. the kids enjoyed their slide at the end of the week.

We splurged for my parents and did an Illuminations Cruise. Wow!!

The trip went by way to fast.

If anyone has any questions, I would be happy to answer them as best I could.

Is the volcano pool still down??? We leave in 5 days... it would be terrible if we dont get to go in the volcano pool.

We have only been home for two days and we are all so sad and already planning our next trip. We miss our view and all of the sounds on the lagoon, the boat horns, the MK train, the drums from the luau ...
(and to make it worse it appears that we are all coming down with the flu - it was running rampant in our town while we were gone)

Yes, we are sad. My kids and I are having serious withdraw. I want to move there, lol. My 12 year old had tears coming out of his eyes when we pulled away. My 9 year old cried the night before we left. It has been rough. I miss everything about the Poly.

At least you have another trip planned. We do not.

Yes, it is still down. It is supposed to be back up in mid November according to the CL concierge. They do offer a straight boat ride directly to the GF pool though. It is something...

She said the slide will re-open on Nov. 20th.

I've got little kids, so I doubt they were going to go on the slide... just as long as the pool is open I will be happy

Maybe someone who is there now... can verify???

Thank each one of you for you kind words. The last time I visited the Poly was in the early 70's but I have spent hours looking at all of the pics. It looks so wonderful. I am afraid I am going to want to make this our regular resort.

That is correct. It is just the slide, not the pool.

I am planning next year's Poly trip and noticed something on the Disney website that I don't remember seeing before: Under Poly categories there are 3 for CL- GV, LV, and Theme Park View-I don't remember the Theme Park View before Does anyone know the difference between LV and Theme Park View for CL???

I checked out the Disney website and saw the Theme Park View--Club Level Access category you are referencing. Considering the pricing $760 p/n (June), it appears to be a suite-like pricing. LV (which affords great TPV) isn't even that pricey. TPV are typically found in Tahiti, Tuvalu, and Aeoteroa--not sure what is up with the additional pricing at CL?

Personally, I wouldn't pay that price when the LV in Hawaii is wonderful and the TPV specifically says it is "club level access". Strange. . .

Theme park view does not involve CL. At CL there are only two views, GV and LV. Unless Disney has changed something in the last couple of weeks. I would bet that it is simply an error on the website.

That's what I thought, but I was on their site yesterday and CL Theme Park View was listed-it was slightly more expensive than LV. I hadn't noticed it before

How many times did you eat at Captain Cooks. We just got back on Monday and it was terrible. Terrible service and the food was not so good. Otherwise, we had a great trip and the lounge offerings were fabulous!! Also, we swam in the pool on Monday. Slide was down. Slide was up and running last week though. There was a sign saying you can go directly to the GF to use their pools.

Also I agree, Housekeeping was top notch!

That is interesting. I agree with you Tess. Any LV in Hawaii is wonderful.

From time to time, someone posts that they didn't like the bushes or bits of tree they could see from their balcony or patio. I wonder if this new category is for completely clear views for people that are uber picky. Just a guess though.

Of course, it could also be a mistake!

I have had that discussion -- theme park vs. lagoon view on the boards here before.

I can never remember the outcome of those discussions - - seems like it won't stick in my brain - but I know I had a theme park view room booked before in Hawaii - either June 2009 or January 2008. It seems like every time I say that to someone they tell me that there aren't 3 views. I know once I suggested that ALL Hawaii lagoon views might not have a theme park view if they were blocked by vegetation in some way, so maybe they adjusted it to cover themselves.

CR Fan for Life I think has commented on that before - perhaps he will see this and chime in.

I'm a little sad about the pool slide being down. I'm curious as to why we haven't received a letter from Disney on this. When we stayed at Coronado Springs last year, we received a letter that the Mayan pool was under refurbishment, even though everything was back up and running prior to our arrival. I guess maybe because it's just the slide that's closed and not the entire pool? What makes me very sad is this will likely be our only stay at the Poly.

I wonder if it was expected or not. I know my older daughter would be very upset if the slide weren't open. Maybe it will be back in working order when you arrive? Of course, now that we've stayed at a resort with a hot tub (AKL), I suspect that same child of mine will be upset to discover there isn't one at the Poly.

Congrats on the good medical news, Sherry! That sounds like a wonderful place to celebrate!

I am very upset about the pool slide being closed. It is one of the reasons we chose the Poly. DSs have their suits packed in carry ons. Was this an emergency or something? I am upset that with all the emails I receive from Disney about our arrival it was never mentioned. I also don't know why it hasn't been on the boards or other sites that list refurbs and closings. I have been planning and saving for this trip. It is also a celebration. I am turning 40 a milestone that I didn't think I would see. 20 y ago when I was dx'd w/ lupus the lifespan was 5-10 yrs and pregnancies were either discouraged or without good outcomes. Well I am still here! Not healthy but still here! And I have 3 miracle children who will be celebrating next week too. They are great kids who deserve a lot of credit for bearing the burden of a sick mom. So, really the pool slide in the scheme of things, not a big deal, but I should be notified as we are arriving in a few days.

Just back from 9 days at the Poly - theme park view, ground level Tahiti Building. First time at Poly. Would like to try other resorts like Wilderness Lodge but will probably come back to the Poly instead. Wonderful service by all cast members, room was very clean. Great view of the lagoon and castle. We liked being able to walk right out our patio onto the beach -- there is a small grassy area between the patio and beach, very little people walking by - there is no walkway, just the grassy area. Very convenient to transportation -- a nice, short walk to the TTC - usually took the ferry boat to Magic Kingdom and the Monorail to Epcot. Short walk to the Poly bus stop for other parks. Longer, but very nice walk to the Grand Ceremonial House, we walked along the beach from Tahiti to the Pool area for a great stroll. The Luau was much better than the reviews say -- great dancing, great food, plenty of beer, and the fire juggler was awesome. Ohana's was great for dinner and the character breakfast with Lilo, Stitch, Mickey and Pluto. Kona was OK, nothing special. We liked that the Poly is on the monorail - made it easy to enjoy many restaurants at the Grand Floridian and Contemporary. The Volcano pool is nice -- that the castle can be viewed from the pool too. Lots of little lizards on the walkways, saw lots of ducks including a mother and babies -- unfortunately also a hawk who was watching them -- the mother duck sqawked and pushed the babies away and the hawk left. Talk about giving real meaning to the "Circle of Life"!!!

so does anyone know for sure how long the slide will be down? This is our trip of a life time too. I mean, we go often, but staying at the Poly is a once in a life time deal and certainly celebrating our 38th anniversary is!

P.S. Is the entire pool closed or just the slide?
