Hey everyone! I've been catching up on all that is Polynesian because we will be there soon! I can't wait :dance3: It has been 2 long years since I've been back to stay at my favorite resort. I am interested in the Resort photo shoot at the Poly. Have any of you done this and do you have any photos to share? We are celebrating my oldest DD's 13th birthday and I would like to have some photos to commemorate it.

Tokelau is a great longhouse but there are no set views. I did stay on the ground floor at the end of the longhouse next to the beach end but we did have to walk out of our patio to see the castle - not far out and if you were seated just right, you could see it. If you want a castle view, definitely book it (and it won't be in Tokelau). But if you are like me and would prefer the same room type, but just not as much money, get Garden View! I see the castle when we are eating, hanging out on the beach, at the volcano pool, or walking around so we get to see the castle a lot, even without a room with a view. Enjoy!!!

Hey girls, I just ordered that cute dooney and burke purse ya'll have been talking about from the merchandise line (407 363-6200). I couldn't wait til our trip to the Poly in Feb. Now I will have my cute Disney purse before our trip.

DisneyGirl - which one and how much was it? I started reading that purse thread but really couldn't wade through it all. I love those bags but I'm afraid they won't have them in January when we go -- so can you give the details here, please (sorry to hijack the Poly thread)!

I was seriously considering ordering it too, but then realized I might be able to get the AP 10% off at World of Disney. I also would like to see it up close before buying.

The large tote was 175.00 and the wristlet was 45.00 with 29.00 shipping. They have a smaller tassel bag but not sure of the price. I was afraid they wouldn't have them for our Feb trip to the Poly so I went ahead and ordered it. That way I wouldn't have to spend time looking for it when we got there. :)

well we were supposed to be there today! Ugh..DD7 came home with 102.6 temp on Friday..so we had to postpone our first trip to the poly..But good news is her fever broke last night ...had no fever all day and is running around eating normally and playing..Doc said she was going to be fine and we should go..so after a bunch of changing things around..we leave tomorrow!!!

I'm so glad your daughter is feeling better and that you were able to rearrange everything. Have a great trip!:cool1:

That is what I have been thinking, too.:goodvibes

Do you know if they are leather? At that price, I would sure hope so but then some D&B bags cost more than that???

Anyway, congratulations on your purchase. Those bags look sooo cute.:surfweb:

We leave Friday and I can't stand it anymore! I'm so excited. This is our first stay at the Poly.

Do I understand correctly that all the rooms have iPod/iPhone docking stations?

When we were at the Poly in March, they did; same at the Grand Floridian when we were there in August.

Have a magical trip.

Tinkerbellie, I think you might have quoted my post by mistake, but I like you recommendations, even though we like Samoa better than Tokelau ;)

I am so excited. Just got the pathology report back from my recent surgery & I am cancer free. Just 6 more months of chemo treatments (my chances of gettting the cancer back with the extra chemo is only 6% vs 33% with no extra chemo) and 5 years of quarterly follow up visits. I am thankful and grateful for my wonderful news! Celebrating at the Poly in Jan. This will be my first stay at the Poly. I've wanted to stay there for years. I am so looking forward to this celebration trip and thanks to magical Lisa it will be lagoon view club level. I anticipate spending alot of time enjoying the resort because I will be somewhat tired from the chemo. From reading info here on board, I understand the Poly is very relaxing and laid back and I will be close to the pool where I can lounge, read and enjoy some sun.

That is fantastic news!
Sending you thoughts of peace and wellness.
Enjoy your trip to the Happiest Place on Earth.
You deserve it!!!

Thanks so much Gretchen. We went last Dec and I was so sick most of the time (didn't know why - I was diagnosed the first week in Jan) that I didn't enjoy the trip. I had some doubts throughout this year that I was ever going to make it back to Disney. For me Disney has always been magical and my favorite vacation spot. My DH and I are in our mid 50's and our friends think we are crazy. It is so nice to have people here on the board who are as addicted to Disney as we are.

Sherry - I agree - fantastic news for you! I think you're definitely right to be celebrating at the Poly -- lagoon view CL no less! It will be great!

Sherry - Congratulations on your great news! :cheer2:
And what a wonderful treat for yourself to go to Disney. Enjoy every second of it!

Spicy peanut sauces are a staple of Asian menus. Balanced and full-flavored, they complement a variety of meat and rice dishes.
This recipe fills that bill with a luscious, full-flavored liquid from Ohana at Disney’s Polynesian resort. The sauce gets a flavor kick from the addition of Thai curry paste, which is sold in Indian and Asian markets, some gourmet stores and the ethnic-foods section of larger supermarkets. The thick paste is an intense blend of ghee (clarified butter), curry powder, vinegar and other seasonings.

Peanut Sauce From Peanut Sauce Ohana at Disney’s Polynesian Resort

Yield: 2 quarts.

1 ounce garlic in oil

1 teaspoon Thai curry paste

16 ounces soy sauce

1 1/4 pounds sugar

14 ounces peanut butter

1 ounce fresh ginger, finely chopped

Salt and pepper to taste

Chopped green onions and peanuts for garnish

1. In a medium saucepan, lightly saute garlic in a small amount of oil. Stir in curry paste. Add soy sauce and bring to a simmer.

2. Add sugar and stir until dissolved. Add remaining ingredients and continue to stir. Season with salt and pepper.

3. Remove from heat and chill.

4. Serve in bowls for dipping garnished with chopped green onions and peanuts
