As Cinderellie said, with online booking you still interact with a CM and can request a change if not happy with your assignment. I haven't used it at the Polynesian yet but have at BCV, GF and I think THV. I will use it again.

We are off in about an hour to my parents to drop off Poly, the puppy for a week. Sadly she is not even welcome at the resort she is named after...

I am so excited at this point!

Well ..my dd12 is starting to feel better..I got my son to the doctor yesterday because he was wheezing horribly. Doc gave him a steroid and told me to "Go have fun in Disney!!" He told me he will be fine by then..He isn't sick just asthmatic...sooo this morning he sounded so much better already!!! Dd7 is stilll healthy as an ox.. I went yesterday for my sinus infection and was given the z pack and I already feel a ton better today...Could it be? Could we actually make our trip??!! OOh it could all work out and we will be at the Poly on Sunday..keep your fingers crossed for us!! All the pixiedust is helping!

My husband said "yeah that would make me grumpy" hehe and he's a morning person. He hates that song after we got trapped in IASW for 45 min a couple of trips ago. Whatever..he's getting on it again next spring. He just won't like it.

I have never stayed in Tonga, but I believe I have read there are bagged snacks in the afternoon. I really can't speak to what else is offered and I don't recall ever reading much about the Tonga offerings.

I do know that Tonga guests are welcome in the Hawaii lounge, but not vice versa. You will have to give us a full report when you return! I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one curious about the differences.

I stayed in Tonga this past January (2009) so I'm not sure how out of date my info is. While the lounge is smaller, I liked it better. For breakfast, there were a different assortment of pasteries than Hawaii - discovered quesitos there yum! They were full sized but cut into thirds. There were also Krispy Kremes They also had yogurts, chocolate milk, different types of milk cartons (2%, skim, **** etc.) I think you have to ask for the yogurts in the Hawaii lounge. There were also Pop Tarts and individual cereal containers. I also liked that they had Twinnings tea - I didn't really care for the tea in Hawaii but the coffee/hot chocolate machine was the same. They also had a selection of fresh fruit - bananas, oranges, apples throughout the day.

In the afternoon, they put out raisin boxes, cookies, cupcakes and there were bags of chips and pretzels. That's all I can think of - water bottles and pop were restocked in our fridge. I think we had Sprite, Coke and Diet Coke.

I just discovered this cool board and have spent the last hour reading the threads! Work? What's that? So much great info...

We are leaving next Friday (11/6) staying until 11/11. It's me (5mos. pregnant), DH, DS (5) and DD (1). First timers and my husband and I are way excited! We can't tell DS until the weekend because I can't handle "is it today that we go to the castle?" every day for 2 weeks!

Anyway, our flight gets in late (10pm) so I'm guessing it's going to be 11:30 or later by the time we actually check in.

Booked our room through my work convention and talked to CM at Poly yesterday about possibility of upgrade to concierge level. He said they have availability but can't do anything without talking to group sales and can't do anything until we arrive. Group sales won't be working on Fri that late when we arrive.

Anyone have any experience/advice on getting the upgrade at check-in? I'm open to paying the rate difference but obviously complimentary would be preferred! Not having been there before, would tipping the desk at check-in work? TIA so much for any advice you can offer!

No tipping at the check in desk would not work - nor is it allowed! Remember it's Disney, not Vegas! But if you're willing to pay for the upgrade, I would ask when you check-in -- maybe you'll get some pixie dust!

The two times my family and I got upgraded for free at check-in was a shock because we were not expecting it to happen, plus when a resort upgrades their guests for free it's done a few days in advance when doing room assignments. So basically when you check-in and the Cast Member enters your name into the computer a message comes up saying they got an upgrade, so that's what makes them totally random. However if there are Club Level rooms available and you don't mind paying the extra cost per night, then that's something you can do without any problems. So basically don't be disappointed if your not upgraded for free.

End of day five ... haven't run into BreezysMom yet, but then again I just spent the last couple of hours in the laundry room (one of the perks of having three kids! ) On a much happier note, the dole whip machine is up and running again!

Still hot, hot, hot and the crowds are still great - walked onto everything this morning.

DD4 had a sweet moment this morning with the Fairy Godmother. FG was talking to DD, who was not really responding to her questions. Then FG noticed DD's hearing aids and immediately knelt down and started signing to her - I didn't have the heart to tell her that DD only reads lips and hasn't learned to sign yet, but it was still such a thoughtful gesture.

Off to get ready for the torch lighting ceremony and 'Ohana dinner. Aloha!

Wow, your dd is only 4 and she can read lips? That amazing. I'm glad she had that magical moment with the FG. I bet she liked that.

Yes, she has a severe hearing loss. We adopted her at 2 1/2 and she didn't get her hearing aids until she was almost three. Her teacher for the deaf told us she is very visual. It's obvious at her speech therapy sessions. When she can't get a sound she will cheat and peek at the teacher and then is almost always able to produce it (of course her therapist always busts her on it!)

BTW, dinner was fantastic ... great food, lapu lapus and Kaleo!

Just something to be aware of - but make sure you CAN pay the difference and make it work. For my work, I have to submit the exact nightly rate & taxes (listed separately) and if I wanted an upgrade, it would be impossible to break out the nightly rate that they would pay for and say $x is what I'll pay. But if your expense report isn't like that, then yahoo! I'd totally ask at check-in!

This is an example of what makes Disney so wonderful. I'm counting the days until I am getting ready for torch lighting and O'Hanas. BTW, have you shopped in Boutiki yet? Did you happen to notice if they have those cute Dooney & Bourke Disney purses? Thanks.
