Hi everyone!

I was just wondering if you had any thoughts on online check-in vs. just waiting until arrival? We will get to the Poly at around 11:30/noon on Sunday, and I'm not sure what might be better/easier??

Personally, I see no value in online check-in. I like to be there in person while checking in and then if there's any issue with our room assignment, it's easier (to me) to fix while you're still there dealing with the CM. And I like to chat with the CMs too.

I have never waited in a line more than 5-10 minutes checking in to any Disney resort, so I don't see the need for on-line. Plus I've heard mixed reports whether it saves any time or not - for some it did, for some it didn't.

I've been debating whether to use online check in as well. I think Vicki C is right, though. We've never had a problem with our room assignment before, but I just feel better actually checking in with a live person. We also have the best time chatting with the CM's at check-in. I think we'll skip online this time.

oh nooo..my first stay at the Poly is in jeopardy. We are supposed to leave on Sunday. My DD 12 has been sick since last wednesday..no fever. Don't know what is going on with her. My dd5 started wheezing yesterday and was on the neb every 4 hours trying to get ahead of it. He woke up this morning needing it and is coughing:scared1:. No fever thank goodness..but his asthma gets out of hand quickly.. Certainly if he is like this..I won't be able to go. DD7 is perfectly fine!!! Sorry to vent....the kids don't know that I may have to cancel this and everyone is going to be so upset...blah.

Sending lots of healthy vibes pixie dust your way. pixiedust: I can't imagine being 5 days out and having to consider cancelling. I hope everyone feels better quickly!

I am officially ON VACATION!:banana::banana:

Today was the longest 12 hour shift of my life! When I came home DH had done his "packing" which consists of him placing everything he wants to bring on the bed and I put it in the suitcase. ;) So he and DD and done. I have not even started for myself but I am the easy one. I am actually impressed with how little we are packing this trip compared to our first trip 3 years ago. We brought 6 suitcases and carry ons!:rolleyes1 Wow, have I learned a lot since those past trips!

Lots of little things to do tomorrow but totally manageable! :thumbsup2

Have a great time! I can't wait to hear all about it when you get back! I'm right behind you. We leave in 11 days!!

Hi guys!

Thanks for all the responses for a safe trip! :goodvibes It has been a crazy day! We are all packed. I am very proud of my packing skills this trip as we only have three suitcases in all. :thumbsup2

I did the airline check in and put our ME tags on our suitcases. Now we are getting ready to head out to the Miley Cyrus concert.

I will try to post here from my cell phone if I can figure it out...otherwise I do have a link to my Twitter page in my siggy. You can follow our every move! I promise lots of details

I plan on taking lots of pics and getting updated info for our thread. Anyone going soon? I will try and answer your questions if I can. I already have a little list of things to take extra note of ;)

In about 24 hours I hope to be walking into the Poly!!

See you soon!:yay:

So everyone has their own thoughts on check in but I did want to tell you that I had a GREAT experience with online check in. I was very skeptical but I checked in online then I called with my room request. When I checked in, I still had someone to check in with (and had a lovely conversation with them) but they just had everything ready for us including Celebration buttons with my kids names on them AND they had a room for us that matched my request (Tokelau, ground floor) AND it was the BEST room (a corner room on the castle end and we could see the castle as we ate breakfast on the patio!) Also, I was the only person in the online check-in line where the regular line had about 15 people in it (I don't think they waited long, but I didn't wait at all!)

So absolutely, go with what you want to do but I will definitely do online check in again!

So Jealous!!!! Have a wonderful trip and thank you for getting lots of info and pics to share with us all. Can you try to take a pic of the activity schedule?? I am not sure if they even have one? I was trying to figure out if we should plan a night to hang at the hotel and watch a movie or something....

Have so much fun!!!

Actually I plan on bringing home the Island Palm Press which has the activities on it and scan it to put on here. That has a ton of information! :thumbsup2

Enjoy the concert and have a great vacation! :wizard::flower3:

Thanks! Would there be a difference in the offerings??

I have never stayed in Tonga, but I believe I have read there are bagged snacks in the afternoon. I really can't speak to what else is offered and I don't recall ever reading much about the Tonga offerings.

I do know that Tonga guests are welcome in the Hawaii lounge, but not vice versa. You will have to give us a full report when you return! I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one curious about the differences.

Just checking in. Our third full day here at the Poly is just coming to an end.
The weather has been hot (87 + humidex). The crowds have been great - most rides have either been walk on to 10 minute waits. The longest wait was Toy Story - it was 20 minutes and we took our good sweet time wandering over there after we got to the park. Of course later in the afternoon the more popular attractions are more busy, but we've been doing our "must do's" first thing and have had no problems (and not used one fastpass).

As for the Poly ... we had requested Tahiti (we are MK view) and were disappointed at check in to be assigned Tuvalu. However, it did not take long for that disappointment to disappear. In retrospect we are glad that we were assigned to this long house. We are right beside the Marina, so close to the boats to the MK and close to GCH and volcano pool. At night we can faintly hear the luau in the background and we have a gorgeous view of the Grand Floridian. We are in a third floor room and we love how we are right over the water (rather than grass, then beach, then water).

Our room does not seem dated or worn (as some have reported in other buildings). We had towel animals the day we arrived, but none since. My sister, in the adjoining room, got one today though, so maybe they have a different mousekeeper?

On a bad note, the dole whip machine in Captain Cook's is out of order. :scared1: We are here until Sunday, so are hoping that it is fixed soon!

And a note to those staying garden view ... as we are coming and going we have to walk past Fiji. If you request the marina side you will have a lovely view - overlooking the little marina with the volcano pool and beach in the background. Just a thought if you are going garden view, but want something a little different. :thumbsup2

I will hopefully check in again in a few days. Will post pictures once we are home.
