ALOHA to Hawaii ~ April 29 - May 14, 2012 Part 5

While I was also aware for the weather and conditions crossing, I think you are being a little unfair. I did a lot of research into what the temps and conditions would be, and it was very hard to find any information - which was what led me to do a Trip Report, which includes the weather and conditions for the day.

It was a WONDERful cruise - even if the weather was a little cold and conditions were rocky!

Thank you. I wasn't sick. However, my knees & hips ached from the effort to stay upright, and most afternoons I found little to do and no place to sit (I don't attend 'tastings' or play bingo). I LOVE the sea under normal conditions. Didn't even mind hurricane Hannah, when we followed her to a non-visit to Castaway Cay. People on the October cruise should be forewarned what to expect, so they can make their choices accordingly.

Thanks to everyone for making this a cruise so wonderful. It was great to meet old and new friends. A little warmer weather would have been nice but it gave me an excuse to sit in the cove, drink coffee and read. Our coffee bill was more then our liquor bill.

On the drive home, we stopped at the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo. Stayed in the Yosmite Falls room. Most of the room was rough granite, including the bathroom, all but the toilet, which was one of those Japanese computerized things. The hugh granite fire place was nice. An interesting experience.

In addition to magical memorys Bob brought home a bug (of course) so he is in bed and on antibiotics.

We don't have any other cruises planned for this year but hope to meet all of you again.

I think John brought home the same bug. It started the last few days on the ship and he went to medical to see if he could stop it before it got worse. they put him on the zpac which did not seem to do much. He is still coughing and can't sleep at night. He went to the walk in med center when we got back to FL and they put him on something stronger. We hope this works. We are trying to repack and get our FL mamufactured home closed up so we can head back to CT. Hope to leave by Mon or Tues. I dread that ride.

Hope to see some of you wonderful people on another cruise. We did book the PC in May.

We loved the cruise and would do it again in a heartbeat. I did lots and lots of research so I was not surprised in the least. I packed accordingly. We even packed games and they came in handy. We always cruise with our meclizine so we were all set for fun. We loved "riding" the waves in the adult pool. I think Disney did an excellent job in all aspects and I sent them an email telling them just that. I even thought they handled the merchandise better than they have in the past for special cruises.

Coughing and really runny nose for my DH....he was so struggling in DL after the cruise but he is getting better now with right meds. I hope everyone who got sick to get well soon.

Corinna-

Did you make those Stitch charms? If so, my children were grateful, lucky recipients. Stitch will be proudly attending kindergarten tomorrow. I hope he doesn't cause too much trouble.

Sounds cute--can someone post a picture?
thanks in advance.

Jan

Great! I am still waiting on two bags to arrive here (Southwest lost two of my bags, including the one that they had given me after ruining my first bag), one has my hard drive in it, which has my blog.

I have been sitting at the dinner table each night saying how "lavanous" my dinner is and no one seems to get what I'm talking about :confused3

:cool1: Glad you got the bags finally

:rotfl2: about the use of LAVENOUS !! :lmao:

We also had a WONDER ful time...and thanks to everyone who made the cruise special...

Val and Bob - once again, the shirts were so great.

The Mascot meet - neat. Corinna - thanks.

The photo ops - fun... Thanks to the person who spoke up for the "girl in the red shirt" when she said, "she made a skirt"....

My first champagne girls really wonderful, thanks Deb.

The fish extender gifts dropped by the room (when I had not placed a FE outside - extra magic).

The scrapbook and collection pages are waiting for me to begin. Sorry I missed the actual event. thanks Linda.

The door signs, I loved seeing all the decorations.

Brunch at Palo's - thanks again Steph.

The fun hints, the important hints, like when to return to the ship.

We had an uneventful trip home....I was the one unpacking the luggage in the terminal to move 12 pounds into a duffle. One extra bag = $35.00 but 12 pounds = $90.00

All the help with the sewing - thanks Jan.

Late dining - somehow we missed being linked up with fellow dissers but thanks for trying...
Bev --- the group rates at the hotel...

And to everyone who made the cruise so perfect --- Mahalo......

Still have not been able to get an answer from DCL as to why some of the linked ressies were together on 2 separate rotations and others were not even seated with anyone else on the linked list. It took 2 days for dining to get back with me and say that onshore dining would only be able to answer this. ??? Sorry it did not work out. We have done this several times before with no problems. :confused3

Such an awesome cruise! I'm also in need of a vacation from my vacation. We're almost done unpacking but I've left out all the wonderful FE gifts and souvenirs, just so we can look at it all for a bit longer. I also was sad to see my Mickey figurine was broken in several places once I opened the package. I don't think they are packaged well.
Thanks to everyone for all the FE gifts, activities and great memories!!

Our Mickey figurine traveled well and arrived home safely. :goodvibes

:scratchin  Maybe the people they ate with needed to meet those DISers? :confused3

.

There is probably little irony in the fact that the photo I took of the Stitch charm is not cooperating with being posted. Do you Facebook? I'm much more competent in Facebook. I'll post it there.

It is almost a week now since we are off the ship on this fabulous cruise....my DW and I cannot stop talking about it and are having cruise withdrawal. It was such a pleasure meeting so many new friends, and made friends that we feel will last a lifetime. With the linked dining with the DISboard members, we totally enjoyed dinner each and every night. It was hard saying goodbye. We are doing the 5 night Canada cruise in September....wish it was tomorrow.

I want to thank whoever gave me and hung the extra Lanyard on my fish. I thought that I would leave it there since my fish was quite naked. Unfortunately someone must have wanted it more than I did because it disappeared in less than 3 hours! :confused3:confused3

I've got an extra, if you'd like to have it. Pm me your snail addy.

I am going to miss turning on the computer in the morning and having Linda saying Good Morning. We hope to meet some of you on the PC thread. Leaving FL tomorrow for the drive back to CT. Keep us in your prayers that we have a safe and healthy trip back.

Which Canada cruise are you doing in Sept? We are doing the last one - Sept 12th.

If you were part of Lanyard team then that's where extra came from. Jason and Erik had some extra lanyards and i just bumped into them when hanging them on teams doors. I gave mine to our servers as a souvenir, kids want to keep theirs :)
