The news of the pool opening just pushed me over the edge, and I booked two nights at the end of April! This will be the very first time we're ever staying at the Poly. We're going on our first ever Disney Cruise, and then we were going to spend two nights at Wilderness Lodge. Part of our plan was to come spend an evening at the Poly for dinner and watching fireworks anyway, so I decided we might as well stay there too, and be able to use the cool new pool and see the castle right from the resort!

Wow! your trip sounds a lot like ours in August ! :D We are going on the Fantasy for the first time on Aug. 1 (we have already sailed the other three-lol.) pirate: Then the first night off the cruise we will stay at the Poly DVC lake view for the first time for one night, followed by 4 nights at VWL (after DD 31 flies home. ) Our trip actually starts with a one night stay at BCV pre-cruise (got to make sure we are 'in town" early so we don't miss the boat the next day!) I guess great minds think alike!pixiedust:

That's so funny, we're actually staying at Boardwalk Villas for two nights before our cruise! So we have two nights at an EPCOT area resort (BWV), a three night cruise, then two nights at a Magic Kingdom area resort (Poly). I think I'm more excited than my kids are, and I'm counting down the days!

I am wondering if it will still be in front of the resort or not as well. I am thinking it is a good possibility?
I saw somewhere, maybe Tikiman's page, that the entrance should wrap up soon as well. I know I saw pictures somewhere.....

Question RE: CL desserts…Do they by chance have the bread pudding (or something similar) from Ohana?

Ok so need your help. We are currently booked at the pol for the end of August. but am now thinking of switching our trip to the beginning of may. We are travelling with a newborn and thinking that weather wise in the beginning of May will be more comfortable for him then end of August. We still want to stay at the poly. Realistically what construction will still be going on in may? Will it still be a mess?

Walls should go up soon after the Main Pool Re-opens....

There's a huge construction push at the moment for DVC opening 4/1: the Main Pool, Trader Sam's, Bungalows, Studios, and Front Entrance.

Whether all those projects will be completed by 4/1 is a different subject entirely... but crews are working around the clock!

Once those projects are finished... the opening of Tokelau (last DVC Studio long house expected to be completed in Mid-Summer) the East Pool should be the only remaining projects.

Given the progress over the last few weeks... an Early April opening is seeming more and more likely.

CMs are even quoted as saying 'March' these days!

There can always be delays and set backs... but I'm starting to really feel confident about an April 1st opening to coincide with DVC.

The Quiet Pool will most likely be closed during your stay, and therefore construction fences will be visable, as well as occasional noise during working hours.

The Princess Suites are located in the Tonga Longhouse:

Guests staying in the Tonga Longhouse will have access to a Concerige Lounge as well as the lounge in the Hawaii Longhouse.

Beautiful pics

It's official!! We are booked for our first Poly stay in August!! :yay: Any idea if the quiet pool construction affect the walkway to the TTC to catch the Epcot monorail?
It's just a guess, but it's not only East Pool construction affecting the TTC path, it's all the construction going on with DVC on East side of resort. I wouldn't expect path to be open untill DCV construction is done

We always go in August, and it's HOT!! Particularly for a new born. I'd switch. Last Aug temps got to 100!! May will be much better for a baby. I'd worry about heat stroke. Even May can be hot, so make sure stroller has shade, and a light coloured blanket you can throw on top for more shade.

Construction will be going on all year with DVC and East Pool. But main pool will be open.

Thinking of requesting Samoa first floor room... How loud would it be with the patio door closed do you think? Or maybe Aotearoa facing the beach area...

I'd be afraid of getting a room in Samoa facing east pool construction, so I'd request Aotearoa.

I can't seem to find any pics of Aotearoa's room views (any that look at that beach area I mean). Am I thinking of somewhere else?

The lake view studios in Moorea or the newly designated garden view rooms on the 1st floor of Hawaii on the other hand seem lovely… :-)

I posted this a few pages back but if you follow this link it takes you to an interactive map where you can see the view from each room.

Listen to Tikiman's podcast. He answers all this and gives good expectations. But roughly the main pool and DVC will be done, east pool under construction.

One more thing, if you're thinking of going at beginning of May a guy is canceling MANY good ADRs at that time. He posted them today so maybe the Chef Mickey's and others might still be available. http://www.disboards.com/threads/ne...ad-read-1st-post.3346769/page-4#post-53181101

Oh - and not trying to be morbid but please don't ever consider putting a blanket over your stroller when it's 100 degrees out...even if it's in the sun. In Texas people do this at our First Monday flea markets and they call the first Mondays of June, July, and August "dead baby Monday". I know that's awful but it's true. It happens every month. And sometimes just when the baby is against the Mom due to the heat. Not trying to freak you out, but be smart and keep air flowing with a small child. :)

I took my newborn daughter to DC for the 100th year of Girl Scouts celebration (my older girls are in scouts). It was about 100 that day. I kept her in a diaper pretty much the whole time and used a damp cloth diaper to keep her cool. I don't know if you'll be nursing or not, but my daughter was. Just about every hour, and I can tell you having to hold a warm little body that close to mine with that temperature was not fun. I was drenched and miserable. It was one day. I can't imagine doing that for several days. May is honestly not much better than August. If you're prepared, it will be fine. Just make sure your little one is hydrated and you have a stroller where he can be completely shaded.

Good lord, that's awful, texasgingerbread! It would never occur to me to drape a blanket over the whole stroller. Shade, yes. Approximating the interior of a car, no.
