Does anyone know which buildings have been closed at the Poly? Going in August and the reservations were made before the construction was under way. We normally request a building near the TTC and since I don't pay for a water view room since we have to get 2 rooms, we have usually ended up in Rapa Nui. I thought I saw something that it was closed.

I know! I feel like we will practically have the resort to ourselves since everyone is bailing out.

It is freaking me out a little because I'm concerned that I'm not concerned enough about construction.:scratchin Did that make sense? I just feel like all the positives about staying at the Poly- the location, the transportation, the large rooms for a family of five, the restaurants, the beach, the pool- will all still be there in early July. Construction in the lobby, while not beautiful, is not a deal breaker for us. I keep wondering if I should think about jumping ship but I don't see a good reason to at this point.

Anyway, I'm so excited to be there in 36 days! And if we are lucky the new Captain Cook's will open while we are there.

We jumped ship because we will be there for 2 weeks in August. Too long to be without a feature pool :faint: if it was only construction it wouldn't have been as big a deal.

Rapa Nui, Tahiti, Tokelau all closed. Look at updates on Tikiman web site. He keeps everyone updated!

I am just curious...cause I am struggling to decide if we stay with Poly or switch to GF...how much extra are you guys paying to switch?? For us, it's about $100 per night higher to switch to GF. Since prices in mid-December are already high, that additional $600 (before taxes!) is really giving me pause.

We emailed our TA about switching last night. For 7 nights, it's about $550 more for the last week of August. I'm not extremely happy about the price increase (obviously, who would be!), but limited pool in August with 3 young kids was kinda the last straw.

So, your rate must be less since ours is about $100 per night difference. I guess that is December for you. No pool in August would definitely be a deal-breaker for our family as well. December is debatable :worried: Just not sure what to do.

It's a personal pref, but Dec isn't as high a priority for pools, and you'll still have the east pool. I would wait, watch & see. Still aways off. It's not like you won't have any pool. For us August with no feature pool was a deal breaker. If my trip was Dec I think I'd just wait and keep up with Tikimans updates.

I am curious if they will do something other than the one day at BB compensation after it gets rolling. We adore water parks, but I even heard that and was annoyed. We can't even get a day at the big waterpark to compensate two weeks with no pool in 90+ degree weather?!? It's also sort of a slap in the face for those who get the waterparks+more tickets... now your perk is that I get to use my ticket, same as I would have anyways?
Instead of it being a one hour thing to take a quick dip in the pool, it will take us a good 2 hours to go jump in the pool for 30 mins. :confused3

I emailed guest relations on 5/19 asking about this, since we have APs and have the water parks on there. I got a form letter back saying I would hear back within 5 days. I haven't heard anything.

We have switched to the GF after finding out about all the renovations and the Volcano pool being closed. I wished I had been told when I booked it earlier this month. It is my 3 year old grandsons first trip to disney and I have been showing him pictures and telling him all about the pool at the Poly.

We may go back in August before annual passes expire 8/13. Any trips planned???

Well look at our tickers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1:

My kids' APs expire 8/9 - we'll be at BWI CL 8/4-11...overlapping with you again quite possibly!

Did the same thing and am yet to hear back.

Tokelau, Rapa Nui, Tahiti, the west side of Samoa and Niue.

Also last night the last open side to the waterfall was closed off.

So we arrive June 28. I'm requesting Samoa, third floor. Do you think that is a wise choice for that time or should I consider another longhouse? We are there for ten nights so I think a good location is important. We might get tired of the trek from Tuvalu. Sort of wish I had book CL again.

I would never request Tuvalu for standard view. Fiji would be much better. I think Samoa will be fine even if they close half of it before you get there. You will just be facing the east pool. There will just be less rooms cutting your chances of getting that request by half. The only thing I can see that could happen would be that they start ripping up walkways around Samoa when you are there.

Thanks, Tikiman. I think Fiji will be my back up request if we don't get Samoa. We enjoy facing the east poll, also. That was our view from Hawaii last time.

Despite the construction, we are really looking forward to being back at the Poly!

If we were to stay at the Poly this October, what should we expect? Will the quick serve restaurant be open by then? Are they planning on closing 'Ohanas at all? Will the entire resort be under construction?

I would love to stay there, the closing of the main pool really doesn't bother me but I just haven't really seen a comprehensive timeline of what will be open/closed at what times of the year.

Thank you!

I am going to do exactly as you suggest. Just watch and wait :thumbsup2
