Hello we are planning our fourth trip to Disney and the Polynesian for June 2015, according to our travel agent the refurbishment should be just about done. The unofficial guide gave a Fall 2015 end time. Any ideas what to expect.

Thanks, it's fun to be posting again. Our last trip was 2/2011

Congrats!! You should be in decent shape. Keep an eye on Tikiman's facebook page if you can. Or his tikimanpages.com :thumbsup2

Happy planning!:)

Hi everyone! I just wanted to give a quick trip report. I am at the Poly now and am loving every minute of it! I was hesitant at first to stay here; I switched last minute from the Beach Club so my 2 year old could see the monorail everyday. I am so happy we did! We are in Tovalu, third floor with an amazing view of the castle. Every night we watch the water parade from our balcony, last night we watched the fireworks, my son loved that. First thing in the morning we sit on the balcony and watch the boats and monorails. Not so sound corny, but these are quiet moments I'll treasure forever. The grounds are beautiful and quiet, not a ton of people here. The lobby is cramped and busy most nights- but once you step outside, just peaceful. The quiet pools just that, quiet and mostly empty. This morning we took a park break so my son could play on the beach, which was lovely. We had our Dole Whip and dinner at Kona Cafe, both great. Staff is friendly, construction noise is low and not an issue. Overall, a wonderful stay!

Thanks so much for checking in athyng..Great pics...what a lovely view too...Nothing like being able to see all of the magic right from your very own room...:goodvibes

As for the quiet moments with your DS...they truly are the ones you will always treasure..Enjoy!!

:cheer2: Congrats on booking a trip for next year!! As Trish suggested..the Tikiman site really has the most comprehensive and up to date info! ::yes::

Trish Looking forward to saying Hello!! Sounds like we will be having a DISmeet or two in the lounge!! :goodvibes

Booked in a Standard view at the Poly in November. I was just wondering, if the resort is not very full because of others staying away due to the construction, what are the chances of getting an upgrade to a better view. Has this happened to anyone recently?

We are really excited to be planning a trip to WDW and our first stay at the Polynesian!! We have decided we want to book a standard room with a standard view. Our requests would be the longhouse Raratonga and a balcony, which should put us on the third floor since the second floor doesn't have balconies. Would making the 2nd request of a balcony reduce the likelihood of getting Raratonga? I would appreciate any thoughts you have. Thank you!!!

We were at the Poly 10 days ago. We booked a standard room & requested 3rd floor Fiji or Aotearoa, hoping for a Luau Beach view.

We checked in & were assigned 3rd floor Aotearoa but facing the monorail. I mentioned to the CM that we'd really hoped to be in Fiji. She smiled & picked up the phone and made a quick call... She offered us a 2nd room floor in Fiji or 3rd floor in Aotearoa on the opposite side of the building.

We chose Aotearoa for the balcony & were most pleasantly surprised when we walked into our room. We were directly facing Luau Cove beach & the GF. We watched Wishes from our balcony a few times! I loved the location! It was peaceful, scenic, close to the marina for the boat to the MK and just steps to GCH.

If you go to the room and really don't like the view call right away and asks to be moved. Just don't touch anything. They can recode your room and you don't even need to go to the lobby they will just give you the new room number.

It is hard to tell what your view will be without looking. Good luck! I'll be there 11/18-21 if you are there then I am hoping for some sunny days. My last 3 trips have had cloudy days.

I'd put both and just check at check in that that is what you got. There are maps out there with building numbers. Room will be 1st digit floor number (1,2, or 3). 2nd digit building number and last two room number. You may want to know this in advance that way if they give you a text of the room number you will know if that is what you want and change it.
Here I a map I found:

We were in Rarantoga our first trip 2nd floor. Our room faced the monorail and my kids loved that. It was so easy to get to GCH from there and the quiet pool too:thumbsup2

MickeyNut How is the Poly planning coming??? :flower3:

Still in the pre-planning stages :rolleyes1. Haven't had much time to sit down and focus yet, but hopefully things will come together soon.

Thanks for the review. Glad you're having a good time and enjoying the Poly. Love the pics, thanks for sharing :flower3:.

I think the Poly will be in good shape by next summer :goodvibes. We are planning a July 2015 trip and while I don't think the bungalows will be 100% complete, there should just be finish work that is going on.

Congrats on booking your first Poly trip :yay:. I would add balcony as a second request. If you aren't assigned the longhouse you want, you can always ask if a room in that building is available :).

For next August, trying to decide between a regular standard view (not club level) and a garden view club level but have a couple of questions:
1. Is all club level rooms in the Hawaii bldg? Are garden views in this particular bldg be nice?
2. Are there standard view rooms in all longhouses or just scattered in some of them?
Just trying to wrap my head around the layout of the Poly and trying to figure out which option we would be happier with as this will be our first stay here.

TIA!!

tikimanpages.com is another good resource.

The GV CL rooms are floors 1-3 on side opposite the lagoon and many of the first floor rooms lagoon side while the construction is going on. I don't know if this will stay that way after completion. All the CL GV rooms are in Hawaii. The only other rooms are the suites in Tonga that are also CL.

The views are of the grounds. They are somewhat private in that a path doesn't run along the building, there is grass and plants etc in between.

If you go to tikimans he breaks down each building by location and benefits. It really is helpful. For the most part std available throughout the property.

I have CL booked for my upcoming trip but our first 3 stays were non club and they were great!

Just passing through.....gathering more Poly info...:earsgirl:

Hey MickeyNut!!! :goodvibes I amsure that the pre planning will be full fledged planning in no time at all!!

Trish Thanks for room view info!! Much appreciated...

Sad to see the 24 hour Dole whip machine go..... Anyone else make floats with their refill mugs LOL? I guess thats the "abuse" that made them change

Thanks Trish...and the bolded above got me thinking about all of our past stays.

While we've always enjoyed our CL stays, we've equally enjoyed our non-CL stays as well. And as I look at the "magical" quote I'm getting for next August (it's going to run us over $1300 more for CL), the more I'm thinking to go with the standard vw & skip CL all together. $1300 savings is HUGE & I'm thinking with that money I could either order water/snacks from GG or make a quick grocery run for snacks /water, rent a car, order apps each night & still have $$ left over :).

So...standard view it will be (now to figure out which bldg. to request :upsidedow. Very excited for our first Poly stay next summer :dance3:. Off to go read Tikiman's suggestions and if anyone else would like to share their experiences & suggest a longhouse...I'm all ears :goodvibes

We stayed in a standard room last month and loved the location. We were in Samoa, third floor facing the quiet pool. That location is close to everything and the view was quite lovely outside our room; very tropical and lush.

That being said, after walking around the resort and getting a better feel of the layout, we didn't find a longhouse we wouldn't stay in. All of them were in good walking distance to the GCH. I think it depends if you want to be closer to the TTC vs. marina vs. luau cove/GF side.

Have a great trip. We hope to return to the Poly next summer, too.

Mommyrosa - what are your dates?

I went through same decision. CL or non CL
Going to go with a "magical" non CL room too

We are booking. August 16 to 26. Maybe we will meet up again!
