This sounds scary to me. Wondering if we should rent a car now.

We found the buses at the Poly ok. DTD was a bit of a pain but it sees to be like that from everywhere. There was really only one night that it took ages.

I am getting so excited!! I just ordered custom celebration shirts for our trip. They will get here a couple days before we leave.

I forget who said it was too much food at the concierge but the only real meal they serve is breakfast. Lunch is snacks and when were were last there was basically cookies and tropical trail mix. The 5 PM fare are appetizers and really not meant to make a meal of although with as little as I eat it can make a meal for me but not my DH or two sons. The 7 PM is deserts and cordials. So it's not a ton of food at all and you can easily make ADR's for other places.

i like to do one adr or qs a day at lunchtime when doing cl for days we can utilize the cl offerings. its not too much food at all, but i think it would be in addition to a dp. i dont like to eat a lot but i like to eat several times a day. we will see how that works for my husband. he may be hitting captain cooks late night. :)

We usually hit the lounge at 5:00 for apps and then go to a park. All my dinner ADRs are for around 8:00 PM. But we can eat late because our kids are older. Typically we don't get back to the resort until pretty late... 11:00 - midnight, sometimes even later than that. Capt Cooks might definitely come in handy for late night munchies. ;) All my men do is eat! :lmao:

I agree. Getting to DTD from any resort is never quick, IMO. We had a car on one of our last trips and decided to drive to DTD instead of taking the bus. We drove around for at least 30 minutes just looking for a place to park. Then when we left, it was so crowded it took some time getting out of the parking lot and on our way. So, in our experience, driving is no better than taking the bus and can sometimes take just as much time and be more of a hassle, IMO.

I am the same way. I can usually make a meal out of the evening appetizers, but my DH and both DSs need an actual meal and would never survive on just the evening offerings. We eat a TS every night for dinner whether we stay CL or not and we have never found it to be too much food.

We've had the same experience. The bus to DTD does seem long, but parking is no picnic either. We had a rental car in May this year and drove to DTD one night, finally found a parking spot way down by La Nouba and walked back to Ghiardelli's and then back to the car. I think the bus would have been faster. Plus if you want to go to DTD and have a few drinks then you don't have to drive. ;)

Just want everyone to know!! I'm so happy with the choice we made staying at the Poly.

I did online check in, I was pleasantly surprised my request was met. Check in was smooth. We got to the resort about 9:30 and our room was ready :) we are in a new room and they are beautiful

Weather is great not as humid as I expected It's actually hotter in NY.....go figure.

Thanks to this thread the Poly is my new favorite!

Yeah, DTD can get crazy!!!! After our last experience, we won't be driving to DTD anymore . And you do make a good point about using the buses and not having to worry about driving ;).

I request to stay in Samoa. In between the 2 pools and close to the great ceremonial house. I think I got very lucky ;)

We stayed in Samoa and loved it!!! I loved being just steps from everything :thumbsup2.

OMGosh that totally reminds me of a trip where we did a split stay between Poly and BCV. When we got to BCV we were all in TEARS  we missed the Poly so much. I can totally relate to that! :thumbsup2

Anyone have in depth pics of the new rooms or any video up on youtube? Ive seen a few pics on tikimans website and a couple here and there but nothing in depth. Im one that constantly looks at the walkthroughs and things of the resorts on youtube in preperation for my nexttrip and to get excited.

We will be celebrating a birthday during our stay. Does anyone know if I can order a mini cake for our dinner at Spirit of Aloha? Thanks!
