This is our last day at the Poly. We had a wonderful time even with the little bit of a rough start we had. We did a lot more down time at the resort than we have ever done and it was so nice and so relaxing even if the Poly was booked solid. We are off to Universal tomorrow. If I had my druthers we would stay at the Poly but I kinda got out voted.

Glad your trip turned around and you had a great time after the not-so-great start. I hope you enjoy the next few days at Universal. Thanks for your live updates :goodvibes.

Glad you had a great trip :wizard:.

Have you thought about taking a 3 or 4 night cruise to try it out, along with a WDW stay? We are taking our first Disney cruise in December with WDW stays before and after. My DH and I have cruise before but our two DSs never have, so I booked a 3 night to see how they like it before we book a longer one (just in case one or both don't care for it). Cruises are a lot of fun and I am really excited to experience it with Disney :boat:.

We are contemplating doing the 3 night next year possibly in addition to a 3 night at Poly. I think between myself and dd10, we might not survive without at least a couple of days at the World. :rotfl: We can't really afford to do more than one trip a year while she is in school (tuition dollars are ridiculous for independent schools). Dh would be happy doing anything really, but I think he's getting tired after 15 or so Disney trips. :confused3 Not sure how that can be, but what can you do? I hope you really enjoy your cruise in December and I look forward to reading about your trip here on the boards! :goodvibes

My TA called and told me we were offered a free upgrade to GF lagoon view for our Sept trip. I said thanks, but no thanks. We'll stick with garden view at the Poly!

I think a WDW stay is mandatory with a Disney cruise . My DH knew there was no way I was taking a cruise out of Port Canaveral without stopping at WDW too :rotfl::rotfl:. Since I'm too paranoid of delays to fly in on the day the ship sails, we are flying down 12/17 for 2 nights at the CR, taking the cruise 12/19-12/22, then staying at the Poly 12/22-12/24. I am very excited to take the my first DCL cruise, but also very excited to see the ship decorated for the holidays :santa:. Thanks about the well wishes for the cruise...I will definitely report back :goodvibes. This is just my opinion, but if you are seriously considering a cruise for next year, I would think about booking it now just to have it. I booked our cruise around October/November last year and looking at prices just last week, our cruise went up almost $900 from what I booked :scared1:. Cruises are usually the cheapest when the rates first come out, and only increase from there. They do sometimes run specials if they need to fill the ship, but those great deals are usually released after the 75 day PIF date and sometimes are only about a month or so prior to sailing. But if you book now, you lock into the rate and can cancel for a full refund up to your PIF date ;) (120 days for suites/concierge cabins and 75 days for any thing else).

I would have stayed at the Poly too. We've stayed at the GF and while it's a beautiful resort, I wouldn't move from the Poly for a GF lagoon view. Have a great time at the Poly :goodvibes.

Since we checked out of the CL at the Contemporary our MagicBands do not work. Also, our room was ready at 2:00 but it was not the level we requested. Tomorrow we will be moving to level one.

Katie

Anyone know if pool noodles are allowed at either of the Poly pools? Im pretty sure they arent because I dont think Ive ever seen anyone using them in the past but thought someone may know for certain. Thanks

Though we have not stayed at Poly, we have used noodles at every resort we have stayed. CBR, BC, POR, POFQ, All Star Sports and Movies.

There are king bed rooms in Samoa, Niue (Handicap Accessable) Rarotonga and Fiji. There are some in the suites also.

Is it possible to have two connecting standard view rooms that both have king beds? Would like to call DRC & put in a request for that, if it's something that exists.

Call and ask though typically they have 2 queens to 2queens or king to 2 queens. Also a good idea is to check Tikiman pages he has the new room configurations posted in the buildings that have been refurbished

Can anyone shed any more light on this for me? We are checking in tomorrow and need to know if we should take our pool noodles with us!

Most of the king beds are in adjoining rooms (according to Tikiman's site) on the 1st and 3rd floors of Fiji, Raratonga and Samoa. Niue has one king accessible (handicap) room on the 1st floor. I don't know if any are connecting rooms. BTW, they are all standard view. Also if it matters to you all of the king rooms in Raratonga are on the monorail side.

We have stayed at the Poly several times and I have never seen anyone with pool noodles. I would guess they are not allowed.

Just curious why they would give you this offer? Are they overbooked at the Poly? I wouldn't have changed to the GF either.

They most likely aren't over booked. It would take a large computer error for that to happen. What most likely is going on is people who have that view or level are being placed in a longhouse with known issues or the company knows they will be closing a longhouse during that time. To help them out and get in front of the bookings that were done months if not a full year ago they are offering free upgrades at a mother resort to free up that longhouse.

Don't know about the Poly but they were allowed at BW, SAB @ BC, WL & POR so not sure why Poly would be any different.

We are going to do a December trip at the Poly but I think we have decided that from now on we will just be doing a standard room instead of CL. This time we just realized that doing CL for us really isn't cost effective and we really aren't using CL to it's fullest like in dining reservations. The staff really didn't have a lot to do for us other than the cord we had forgotten to bring and that maybe could have been handled the same even if we weren't club level. Breakfast is nice but it is all carbs and that just does not stay with dh and he is hungry an hour later. We saw that the difference in room rates in December was just about 200.00 and we just saw that there was just not 200.00 worth of stuff for us to pay the extra money. We could go with less and even buying our food for the day doesn't come up to the difference in price. Also if we go with the lesser expensive room we can plan more trips during the year.. We also plan on bringing cases of soda and water when we come in December and that is mainly what we used CL for. I am not the least bit upset about not doing CL because I am just happy I will be at my beloved Poly and will be able to come back more often.

Talked with I(heart)the mouse again last night. We had a great time sitting out there talking and found that we have a lot in common. She is so sweet and nice and so easy to talk to. It was so nice to talk and to validate each other.

Glad you had a great trip - see you in December!

We bring pool toys and the only thing they have not allowed are snorkels. And keep in mind that there are only lifeguards at the volcano pool so not sure if they would have that same rule at the east pool. During pool 'party' hours, they sometimes provide the toys and noodles for certain games.

Thanks for all the information. We are still undecided. We are not really sure if we want to try sharing a room for 9 days. I know he can sleep through various alarms(he has grown up on a cruise ship :) ), but I don't really feel like whispering for 9 days. The other option are the family suites at ASMU which has 2 separate rooms with a door - which is usually how we are use to traveling. Just not sure that we want to chance having loud groups there, although now there may be a chance that the Poly will have construction work going on- meaning loud noise throughout the day. It is driving me crazy trying to decide.

I don't think I've been at the poly when there was not construction. Granted, it has been longhouse refurbs, roof replacement, and other upkeep, but they are very good about keeping the noise down and during times most aren't at the resort. Even if you are there, the resort has many natural noise barriers and 'absorbers'. The worst noise I experience is the jet toilet flush you can hear from other rooms! It was still loud in May after the Tokelau refurb. I suggest utilizing a white noise app or something. Frankly, if anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them! Does the third floor have less jet flush noise??
