ALOHA! The Poly FAQ: Winter 2011 Edition

Guess what guys?! DH and I have decided to do a vow renewal @ Poly in Sept 2013 on our 5th anniversary so I have been looking at the disney wedding website and Im so excited! We agreed to not do any vacations in 2012 to save for that..Im a little sad to not go in 2012 BUT I think the ceremony will be amazing!

We are keeping it small, my two kids, the two moms, my BFF and her hubby and my SIL her husband and two kids..

I think we will do room only for 2 days, if they want to go to the parks they pay their own admission which I will give them the info to get cheaper..

We will pay for dinner night before at Ohana and for a dessert party after ceremony..

DId I tell you how excited I am????

Congrats and how exciting!!! :bride:

When we were married in Disney we used Rev Tim Herring and he was fantastic. We didn't book ours through Disney, instead had Rev. Tim take care of everything and had no complaints what so ever. I believe he is still one of Disney's preferred officiants, so if you book direct here's a +1 for him. Our wedding took place between the Swan & Dolphin and then moved over to what used to be Dixie Landings for photography. Great day, good people, and Disney magic... what more could you want?!

I'm needing a little "Poly" in my dreary Seattle day today, so I bought coconut rum to add to my pineapple coconut juice. I'm closing my eyes and pretending I'm swaying on a beach hammock in the warm breeze.

With no love bugs this time. They were uggy. LOL

I can't remember if I asked this question on this thread or on my PTR (Fist Pumpin' on the POLY Shore), so I'll just ask again :goodvibes

Can I order sushi from the sushi bar while I'm having dinner at Kona?

Just checking the old ticker.... I am really in desperate need of some nice warm weather...

Yes you can do that. Plus you can also do the opposite and order off the Kona Cafe dinner menu at the Sushi Bar.

A couple of weeks ago on the podcast Corey mentioned that he was hearing that they were now wristbanding at the volcano pool. Can anyone confirm this? I hope they are, the pool gets way too crowded.

We were stayed at the Poly 3/16-3/23. We were received wristbands each day at the pool. It isn't as organized as it is at the Beach Club, lifeguards were just walking around asking for room keys and banding guests, but they were doing the beach too, not just the pool. That was just in the afternoon, not for wishes at night that we saw. Not everyone was banded but at least its a start!

That's terrific news for Poly guests! Hopefully it will continue!!

I think its just done during heavy times, like Spring Break. I wouldn't mind them doing it in September when we go.

Just curious....what do they do at the Beach Club pool?

Hi everyone, just wanted to hare some magic, as Disney yesterday anounced their discount for Deluxe resorts http://www.mousesavers.com/disneyresorts.html#summer30
from 04.22.11 to 05.28.11 and 05.29.11 to 08.13.11. I was tipped on TA for this, and was reluctant to call overseas and ask if it could apply to our already booked and paid holliday. But I was adviceed to so anyway, and I did. Talked to a very nice lady at Disney, that said off course we where elligble for that discount! So she applied it and refunded us a whopping USD 2550. That was kind of magical for us! I really never thought it possible to have such a ting happen to us, and I was happy with what we paid, but honestly that is a lot to save. So I encourage people that are reluctant to call and ask, to do just that, luck might strike, even if not a pin, one can save a lot by being observant.
Sorry to ramble on, I just had to write this out of my system :yay:

I am THRILLED to hear this!!! I hope they keep it up. Just curious, did you see anyone getting turned away from the pool because they weren't guests?

:goodvibes That's wonderful! Enjoy your trip! So envious of those of you who have weeks or just a couple of months to go! I've at least made it to the '250's' countdown... :rotfl: Have a great trip!!

I posted this to the Club Level thread, but I would love to hear your opinions, too, even though you guys might be a bit biased toward the Poly:laughing:.

Anyone have any thoughts on a YC Junior Suite/Deluxe room Vs. a Poly Lagoon View CL room? They are pricing out about the same for us, but the rooms are quite different:

The YC Junior Suite is 645 Sq. Ft., but isn't on the CL floor (they're on the 3rd and 4th floors). It has a Crescent Lake View and full balcony (there are only two of these rooms). The Poly LV room is only 415 Sq. Ft.

We have never had a LV or CL room at the Poly nor a suite at the YC. We're doing a split stay with the first five nights at the CR, so we thought the next 7 nights of the split should be at an Epcot resort, but now I'm not sure since the costs are almost identical and it's so easy to get to the TTC/Epcot from the Poly.

My Poly friends I need you advice. There is a chance I can do a mother/daughter trip in Sept with my dd8. Since this would be a Sun-Thur trip and sort of a last minute plan, I probably can only justify staying at a value. I know some of y'all have stayed at a value, which one won't totally put me into culture shock. I have only stayed at the Poly.

Also, I am only looking at doing the quick service dining plan, so I don't have to worry about ADR's.

We are a poly family too, I took my dd on a solo trip when she was 7 & we stayed at the Pop Century. It was fine, she really liked it. We fly so transportation was an issue which is why we chose Pop. It is the only value with its own bus, the All Stars share. The food court was large and clean. My dd7 loved the theming, it was very cute. We were in the 50's building on the lake which was a nice & quiet location. I did find myself longing for the Poly, but being in Disney World sometimes has to be enough!
