I see no reason to renovate the quiet pool.:headache: It seems just fine the way it is to me.:thumbsup2 It's probably the only resort left on Disney property with a truly deep end. (over 5 feet) When they finally renovated the pool at FW the deep end formerly 8 ft. went to a little over 5ft.

During our Poly stays we always request Tokelau with a view of the "quiet pool". I'm just afraid if they put in a zero entry, and take away the 8ft deep end, we're gonna see a lot more kiddies in that pool. (which frankly is what we try to avoid by not going to the volcano pool area.) Guess we'll see what happens. :confused3

Scanne - When we stayed at the Poly in 2007, we ordered a large pizza and a pint of ice cream from room service. My DS has already asked if we can do that again when we stay there the end of July. I believe there was more on the room service menu than Allears lists.

So Tiki Steve is updating that yes the quiet pool will be closing for rennovations but does not know an exact date. He stated that the rumor of a hot tub is still that...a rumor.

I would imagine that they will not close the pool until after August myself. They Poly pool is crazy busy so I hope that the management would not compound that problem by closing the quiet pool during busy/hot season.

I will say that when we were there last fall the pool slide was closed and they set up a nice boat shuttle to the GF for Poly guests to use their pool so I am sure they will probably do the same thing. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the update!
I do wish they would give some sort of date :headache: With the ADR window at 180 days I really think they should make sure they post all renovations 6 months prior. Just my opinion though...

One thing I really enjoyed at BC was the movie on the beach. Since we are going in September to the Poly, I noticed that the park hours end earlier than I like so perfect time to try other things at night. Has anyone tried the movie on the beach at the Poly? How far of a walk is it from GCH? Do they have smores/marshmallows/fire pit too? Any feedback on this?
Thanks!

They do have the movie at the GF and the walk is not bad at all!! They do have the smores/marshmallow kits, too. I can't remember how much they cost...:confused3...I want to say around $7. Does anyone know for sure? My kids were really wanting to do this, but we never found time. I promised them we would on the next trip.

My guess is they are making these changes to try to alleviate the overcrowding in the volcano pool. If they make it shallower and zero entry it would be more appealling as an "overflow" pool area for people with younger kids. Probably not the most appealling solution for a lot of Poly guests, who would much rather a wrist band policy to help get rid of the big pool hopping problems. :headache:

I didn't get to stay for the movie (DD5 got sand in her eye & had to go back to our room ) but DH & DD7 stayed. They really enjoyed it. I think $7 is about right for the smore kit. I would recommend bringing a blanket or towel to wrap up in. Even though we were there in October, during a heat wave, once the sun went down DD was cold and needed to borrow someone's jacket to hover under. I think the walk was only about 5- 10 minutes (carrying a child) to our longhouse, Tuvalu, which is one of the ones closer to GF, so not much further than that to the GCH.

Just an FYI.

Any fellow Poly lovers planning on going in Aug/Sept should check out the thread in the Codes/Deals section about deals on Southwest.com/Orbitz.

Being the OCD person I am, I HAD to check it out and found Poly rates as low as $138/nt tax included :cool1:

Looks like they are taking an extra 40% off off Disney's 40% off rate, plus there is a 10% off code on top of that.

I can't take advantage myself since I already have airfare booked for Nov/Dec but I'd love to see somebody benefit :goodvibes

we did it in march when we were staying at the gf. it was very cute. s'mores kits were around $7 but i think to buy just the marshmallows was a lot cheaper, like $2 or something. the s'mores kits were huge and would easily feed 4. we only used about 1/4 of our kit for 2 kids. the cm's were really sweet. they had a dance party for the kids and then the movie. it would not be a far walk from the poly at all. we walked to the poly from the gf for breakfast one morning and the walk seemed very short... maybe 5 mins. i had expected it to be much worse. we definitely plan to do it again on our trip in dec as long as it's up and running, especially because the MK closes early often for MVMCP. speaking of which... does anyone know what time it starts in dec? we like to keep our kids on a schedule of going to bed at their normal (early) time at disney because one of my children who shall remain nameless is a complete bear when he or she has not had enough sleep! :rolleyes1

I'll check out the other threads in Codes/Deals but I just checked SW website. I am going in September and will definitely rebook if it is cheaper but it looks to be the same price as the 40% code. Was there any special promo code?

When we went to BC, we bought the marshmallows for $3 and it lasted 4 nights for the 4 of us. We thought it was a great deal and we had so much fun doing it. I'm glad Poly offers it. Thanks for the feedback! Hopefully the walk to the bar for Mommy/Daddy drinks isn't too far :lmao:

I'll check the sign about the s'mores kit shortly. I have to walk DD10 over to the Neverland Club and will be going that way.

I know it's not as close as GF, but CR/BLT also does a movie night, in case you're interested in a monorail ride over that direction.

OK, so I found a great rate on Orbitz. I couldn't believe it. I went to book it and it said that 'the rate had changed' and posted a rate that was 75% more than the cheap rate :headache: I'll try later but either the rate is sold out or Orbitz made a boo-boo.

Good to know, thank you!

Got it this a.m., and saved myself a nice chunk of change! :woohoo: You don't have to book airfare to get it.

Sorry I didn't answer sooner. Darn power outage got in the way of me and my interwebz :rotfl2:

I don't know what's up with the rates. My guess is they caught on and fixed a glitch. Here's to hoping you still have a chance :goodvibes

Yay! I'm such sucker for a deal that it gets me excited just to see somebody else save money. And on the Poly to boot! Doesn't get much better than that. :cool1:
