ALOHA! The Poly FAQ~ Spring 2010 Edition

I was so worried this morning when I woke up and there was no email from the Poly IPO ... so I gave them a call when I got to work and confirmed that they were able to get me all my ADR's and booked my fishing excursion.

The had emailed me this morning but my one email account has been acting really funny lately so not the IPO's fault

The only thing I had requested that they couldn't get was of course the Wishes Dessert Party...still no word on when it's going to start back up again...

All of my "important" ADR's were at the exact times so I was thrilled..there was only two that I had to re-book times for because IPO made them earlier than what I had requested...

So here's the plan!!

Arrival Day - Sept. 20 - California Grill - 5:50 pm (but I re-booked for 7:35 pm)
1st MK Day - Sept. 21 - CRT - 8:05 am
Epcot Day - Sept. 22 - Le Cellier - 12:00 pm (but I re-booked for 1:10 pm)
AK Day - Sept. 24 - Jiko - 7:00 pm
Fishing Excursion/last night at MK (hubby's day) - Sept. 26 - Artist Point - 5:30 pm

WooHoo!! So Excited!! Now I only have to wait 6 more months....BTW Denise & Amanda at the Poly IPO office rock!!

I see from the main page that the dessert party is back.
Is this worth nearly $25pp for dessert?
What time should I make my reservation...to be seated and relax and enjoy the show?
thanks.

I have a club level question.. If magical express doesn't pick us up until 2pm will we still have access to drinks and snacks until we leave?

Yes, you actually have access to the lounge until midnight on the day you check out.

Just back from a week in SAMOA 3604 -- overlooking the Volcano pool. Garden view, super close to GCH and CC. Could not have asked for better location.

Weather wasn't great but we had a great time!

Exhausted still and will try to post details later.

We did Ohana breakfast and dinner, Kona breakfast, Artist Pt and Cali Grill dinners, lots of other great stuff.

Has super good and fun (somewhat surprising, given the reviews) lunch at San Angel Inn...

DD 9 took tons of pics, will try to post them if i can figure it out!

Can't wait to go back!

Thanks for all the pretrip veteran advice - it really made a difference!

Aloha....

Sounds wonderful :cloud9: Very nice to hear a good review of San Angel :yay:

I've seen a photo taken from pool side of Samoa and it was awesome. Can't wait to see yours :cool1:

This thread is such a wonderful place to be when one has had a crappy day. It is great to hear everyones plans and their trip reports.

Now why are tickers showing as links and not pictures all of a sudden?

I think the price is worth it if I don't have to fight for a good viewing spot. Plus, Tinkerbelle flies right over your head!

I don't know about times. Seems like you just get one time and that's it.

I made it through! I got lost in the transition from the previous threat and just found the new one today! All caught up! Thanks Breezysmom for keeping the thread alive!
I've never stayed at the Poly but will be in 2011. It's my dream resort and I can't wait to experience it! Our dates are still TBD, but the planning has commenced!

Thanks for all the great info!

:welcome:

Ask away while planning! This is a great source of all things Poly!

WELL, it looks like we are heading back Oct 5-11th. It will be my mom, the 2 boys and myself (DH can't get the time off work, and he can only do Disney every couple years, it's not his thing :confused3). That's ok, though, my mom is my partner in crime, I mean booking Disney vacations. :cool1:

SO, while we LOVE the WL and BC, we are considering staying at the Poly (my personal goal is to hit all the Disney hotels at some point in time, hate to repeat this early on :rotfl:).

How is the pool area compared to WL and BC? I know nothing really can compare to Storm Along Bay, but frankly, we found it very difficult to keep track of the kids, it was so HUGE. They are good swimmers, but I need to have my eye on them at all times... I found the pool at WL better served that purpose.

Also, my mom is batting around the idea of booking a club level room. I am REALLY hoping for a good discount or a pin otherwise club level is out of the question, but we have never stayed CL and we want this to be a more relaxed, spend a lot of time at the resort-type trip. We will hit the parks 3 days and do MNSSHP one night (not a day we are going into the parks) and the rest of the time we want to be pool side, so we would really like the CL I think.

I appreciate any input, insight, insider tips, tales of wonderful upgrades (while we've never magically gotten one, I LOVE to hear about it when people do :goodvibes).

TIA~

:welcome:

CL will be a great choice if you plan on spending a lot of time at the resort/pool. It was nice to be able to take a short walk and get a soda and snack.

Staying at the Poly is a great resort for a relaxing vacation with the added bonus of the parks!

The Pool area is fairly small so keeping track of the kids should not be a problem but it is not enclosed.

Happy Planning :wizard:

I did this back in January and thought is was worth every penny..would have even paid more for it (but dont tell Disney that :rotfl:)

The fact that I was able to walk up 15 min (rather than stake out a spot 45+ min early) before the fireworks began and sit in a comfy chair at a table (not pavement) and have access to unlimited yummy desserts and hot beverages (I was there for record low temps so I drank more than my share of hot tea and hot chocolate). Not to mention the view was amazing. Not a bad seat in the place. Plus we were able to continue snacking on desserts and hot chocolate while everyone else was fighting the crowds to leave MK after it was over.

The only negative was that the selection good of been a little better (but im really picky) but they had everything from fruit, any flavour tart you can imagine, cakes, chocolate covered strawberries, donought, mango shooters, creme brule, etc.

Here is a small sampling of my desserts...I think this was my first plate so I didn't overload it too much didnt want to seem like a pig

It's definitely worth the cost! You get a great viewing spot, the desserts are yummy, and if it happens to be raining, like it was the night we went, you stay nice and dry. :)
