The lounge and loft are open 24/7 and the cooler is stocked with soda. You will have access to the drinks in the cooler and the seating, but nothing else I'm afraid.

Thanks for this info! Correct me if I am wrong....but with a cooler available with drinks 24/7, I would have no need for refillable mugs? Correct? We have mugs literally falling out of our kitchen cabinets as it is!

I am so excited that we are getting to the end of our countdown for a trip I never thought would happen and so excited to stay at the Poly! This will be all of ours very first trip to WDW and the Poly so super excited.

We have booked a GV room but am possibly thinking of trying to upgrade at check-in to a TPV,,,have any of you done that or are most of the rooms full at check-in? It will really depend on the cost difference but this will probably be our only trip for a very long time to WDW and I want to make it as special as possible without breaking the bank.

We are contemplating the same thing and will be there right around the same time as you! We can't upgrade now because I don't want to take my chances of my party not getting connecting rooms (more GV rooms than TPV connect), but I will definitely be asking this question.

Hope we both get a little pixie dust that week! (and that we have beautiful weather!)

I wouldn't waste my money on the mugs especially when your cupboards are full. There is soda available all night and the juice, milk, water, etc. during the hours the lounge is open.

You are also welcome to take things to your room and place them in your own fridge to save the trips back and forth. We always keep the glass bottles of water in our room.

Do you happen to know what kind of coffee is in the lounge? Please tell me it is better than the Nescafe stuff!! Also, do they give you disposable cups for your coffee so you can grab & go in the morning?

There are "to go" cups in the lounge . The coffee machine is the multi function Nescafe type that dispenses hot chocolate, coffee, and cappuccino.

Going to WDW for the 15-20th time tomorrow, but it is our first time staying at the Poly! As a kid my parents always stayed at the CR, then GF, then BI. As an adult I've never wanted to pay for deluxes so far! This time we have the best deal. Our friends are there right now - their parents booked 4 rooms (taking the whole family) using the buy 4 get 3 free deal. Then the parents decided they were going to leave Thursday morning but have the room through Sunday - they asked if we wanted to come stay there!!

We are very excited. We're not sure where our room will be tomorrow night (we're going one night before the parents leave), but they are in Roratonga so that is where we'll be the rest of the weekend. They got connecting ground floor rooms which will be great so the kids have more room to play.

Looking forward to the torch lighting, the beach movie (if we stay up that late!) and our first ever Dole Whips. I don't know why we haven't tried them before, but with them rihgt there we will be trying them ASAP!

I completed our taxes yesterday & I think CL TPV is in my family's future! I do have a question about the lounge though. Is it open 24/7? If so - are sodas (or anything else) available in the lounge 24/7?

As Tess said, sodas and the nes-crape coffee is available 24 hrs! If you are early risers the cooler with soda may be empty, so take a couple to your room and put them in your fridge! Don't forget to leave the cabinet door for the fridge open or your fridge won't work!

As for coffee, we bring little cone filters and starbucks ground coffee with us! You can take sugar and cream from the lounge! Coffee problem.... Solved!

Aloha! I'm in the (very) beginning stages of planning a 25th anniversary trip for hubby and I. Ever since I was a kid, I always wanted to stay at the Polynesian "village" as it was called back then, and in a 2007 trip to WDW we had dinner at Ohana, and wandered around the resort a little. Loved the waterfall in the lobby, and the lush landscaping of the grounds. Also loved the proximity to the monorail system as Epcot is our favorite park. We didn't spend much time at all there our last trip as the kids wanted to go on the most popular rides in other parks, and I'm really looking forward to a relaxing vacation with just the two of us taking in all the sights at our own pace.

From what I've read, the Poly seems to fit a romantic 25th anniversary perfectly! The only thing that would squelch my Poly dreams is the cost, but I'm hoping to get one of those 40% off room only deals -- if they are still around by then. We had free dining in 2007, and while we enjoyed trying out the different restaurants, we found it was way too much food for us, and this time around I'm not seeking the DDP. I'd rather have the room discount and dine carefully.

We are free to travel any time of year, but would prefer lower crowds and warm (not hot) weather. I'm thinking early May or November might be good for us. September was way too hot and humid in 2007, and I vowed to never go again that month even if free dining is offered.

Are those good times for the deals? Like I said, we are in the beginning stages of planning, and open to any and all suggestions -- but I really do want the Poly!

We love to travel to WDW in May. The crowds are very manageable and the temps high 80's were a rarity. Warm enough to swim and go on water rides, but cool enough to wear light jackets in the early AM and late PM.

We are not huge eaters, nor do I like my every day planned with an ADR. I will go for a large discount on a room and get a better room than the free dining any day. We have gotten good deals either thru our AP or just regular deal to the public. This year we have to travel in July and got a great PIN. I am not looking forward to the crowd and heat of July, but we go when we can.

Well the only cans of drinks they have 24/7 in the lounge fridge is Coke, Diet Coke and Sprite. However if you don't mind those drinks then I guess you won't need the mugs, because Captain Cook's has more of them available at their drink machines.

I always make my own - except when staying AKL CL It is too bad they don't have better coffee in the lounge~

I've had some computer problems (I hate vista) and I've been really bummed. It looked like we might lose our Ressie. This winter has been finacially brutal combined with DH school expenses. We have the money but a few weeks into April not April 8 which is the "this is your last chance 30day you gotta pay day!" It was really close and I was stressing and too bummed to even look at the Poly. Then I had a great idea! I called my TA and dropped the dinning plan. The DDP is ALOT of money for 5! Now we can pay by 30 days and just add it back no later than 7 days out. Problem solved. Just wished my brain had though of it sooner!!!

Finally had some good 70 degree days in Pittburgh. Just makes me hungry for the great May weather at the Poly

I am getting a discount, but it is still 1356.00 for 3 nights. Four nights at GVCL was a little more. GV regular was about the same for 4 nights.

That's so tough. I know that a lot of people would take more nights over the TPV CL. I see that you're returning in the Fall, so it's not as though this is your only trip... For me, it would also depend on how long it takes me to GET to WDW. My journey to Orlando is not bad, so 3 nights is a nice Disney dose Certainly 4 nights is better. But I think the "wow" factor of TPV CL is worth sticking w/ 3 nights. That's just me though! Also, if you will be in the parks from dawn 'til dusk, maybe not...
My vote would be for 3 nights with that stunning view. AND REQUEST 1st or
3d FLOOR thru IPO!!

After reading the thread I am still a little unclear....are all garden view rooms first floor rooms? We are booked GV (at rack rate...no pin codes yet ) I don't mind a first floor, but if not then I would like to make sure we get a room with a balcony if possible. We had a GV room on the 3rd floor. First floor has patios, third floor have balconies, second floors are fake balconies except maybe the long house with only 2 floors (Nuie?).

I still want to stay CL, but the GV is not available. The TPV prices are just too high and we would have to cut a night out to do it. I am sad again. Tell me johnsonet, would you stay 4 nights GV or pay the TPVCL and stay 3. I would love to hear your oppinion.

Hi Mickey2minnie! I have stayed both GV(CL) and TPV in Tuvalu and I would have to say that I would rather spend 3 nights in a TPV, than 4 nights in a GV room (even if it was CL). If you spend some time in your room enjoying your view, watching Wishes and the EWP, and just enjoying all your room and view has to offer, I would definitely give up an extra night in a GV for my view in Tuvalu again! There is nothing like hearing all the sounds of MK from your room... Good luck in your decision! Either way, you'll be at the Poly and will have a great time no matter what!

We had a GV room on the 3rd floor. First floor has patios, third floor have balconies, second floors are fake balconies except maybe the long house with only 2 floors (Nuie?).

Some of the newer longhouses, such as Tokelau have balconies on the second floor. If you want outdoor space, it's safest to put either balcony or patio as your first item on your request.

What can you get for a dining plan snack credit at Captain Cook's for both breakfast and later on? Do they have fresh fruit salad in the morning? Oatmeal? Yogurt? ... ?
