Aloha or Hoop De Doo???

I am a complete newbie at all of this planning. But I have been reading posts for hours and hours and days and days. I am beginning to form my plans for my family's trip next April, but will be posting a few questions before I finalize. This forum is really making the difference between a bumbling wandering trip to one where I will actually know what the heck I'm doing. It's great here!

Anyway, what would you choose, the aloha dinner show or Hoop De Doo? I The group includes me, my DH, DD7, DS10, and two twenty-something step kids with spouses. The older kids have been to DW before but for the 10 and 7 year old it will be the first. Which of these dinner shows would you choose?

I would chose the hoop de doo. It is Disney's longest running dinner show so it must be pretty good. I would also base this choice on the menu. If you want to look at menus http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menus.htm

I also recommend Hoop-Dee-Doo over Luau. While both are fantastic shows, I liked the food and theming better at Hoop-Dee-Doo. I also think for young children, they would enjoy the HDD better, it has the comical factor.

We went to the Hoop Dee Do and it was a huge hit with our entire group. Our kids were 8, 6, and 2 at the time and we all loved it. I want to do the Luau next time just to try something different but the whole family said they would rather do the Hoop Doo Do again.

It is a really fun show with good food. You'll love ti!

We have done both- I vote Hoop Dee Doo hands down. We thought the food was better and the show is great! Everyone will enjoy it.

Looks unanimous to me! The HDD looked better to me, but my stepson was suggesting the aloha show. Not having been to either I wasn't sure if I should push for HDD. Now I'm more sure, so thanks!! Looks really hokey and fun.

Done them both.....Hoop Dee Doo all the way, its great fun. Its my 9yo DD favorite. The Laua is great but its not as "Big Fun" if you know what I mean. Also my best tip at HDD is to ask for Bucket-O-Breast.....Thats right the wait staff there is so eager to please and they have such a good time....when they bring you your chicken in a bucket or just before ask for the Bucket-O-Breast , they are more than happy to assist. Have a wonderful time...no matter your choice you will have a nice night . Good Luck.

I did Hoop de doo for the first time last July. This is after many trips to WDW over a 25 year period and I was kicking myself for never doing this before. We had so much fun and adults and children alike were all cracking up throughout the entire show. The food was some of the best that I have ever had at WDW

Time to break the mold....

We have never done HDD, but we went to the Spirit of Aloha in June and we all (DH, DD8, and me) LOVED it. The food was great and so was the show. Actually one of the highlights of our trip. So, if you are not abole to do HDD for some reason, go ahead and try the Luau.

We go to HDDR every trip. Last year my DS choose HDDR as where he wanted to have dinner on his 10th birthday. DD8 loves the hoop! We always leave trying to retell the jokes and sing the songs. I'm sure we will be going back on our next trip as it is the family fav.

It was the best dinner show ever!! We all had a great time, me, DH, DS7, DS6, Sister, BIL, Nephew 4, Nephew 18months, Mom and Dad.

My DS7, laughed sooo hard. There was a guy in the show with a black hat that mad him laugh until he thought he was going to get sick. He talked about the guy in the black hat the whole night and the rest of the trip and even today! To this day, we still say "the guy in the black hat is soooo funny" when he starts laughing about something silly.

My nephew who was 18months had a great time too!
