Almost time to go: two more questions

Two days left before we go. First question: The directions in the FAQ sticky on how to get from LAX to motels on harbor, are these still the most accurate driving directions? Has anyone used them? Any advice on driving, we live in Nebraska so needless to say the LA driving will be a tad different than what we are accostumed to.

Second, we will be arriving around 4:30 on wednesday so pretty much during rush hour, we were going to get our rental car then stop somewhere close to the airport to eat and wait for the traffic to slow down, any suggestions on where to eat?

I would trust the driving directions you get from mapquest or similar sources.

Regarding your arrival time, you are pretty much sitting in traffic no matter what. LA rush hour can last up to and past 7pm easily. In addition I understand that there is always heavy traffic around the airport. Your best bet is to prepare yourself for it. Also use the HOV (carpool) lane if you can get into it. That should help some.

Otherwise, stopping for dinner near the airport is a good idea. It gets you fed, which coming from the midwest will be late to your kids and they will probably be fairly hungry. And, if you take a long relaxing dinner you might miss some of the traffic.
