The AP discount isn't tied to direct/resale purchases, though, is it? I thought it was just cruises, ABD, and the other exotic stuff that wasn't available to resale purchasers (which I just confirmed in the DVC FAQ).

Qualifying to purchase a discounted AP IS now tied to new direct purchases. Previous buyers who had qualified are grandfathered in though. If they sell their contract it loses it's qualifications to purchase discounted AP's. A family though can do a gratuitous transfer to other family and retain the perks.

OK, I see that now. We never paid attention to that aspect as the Florida resident is the same or better deal.
