Almost Ready to Go! Country Bear Jamboree shots posted

We leave for the airport at 4:30 a.m. Sunday morning for our 40th wedding anniversary trip. I'm putting the last touches on the camera gear. The lens I'm struggling with is the Sigma 100-300 f4. The last time I hardly used it, but with the new camera body (Pentax K5), I'm thinking with the higher usable ISO it may be useful for close-ups at Fantasmic, Lion King, Indiana Jones, etc. Otherwise, the longest lens I'm bringing is the 70-200 f2.8. I'll have to wait until the last minute to see if I have room in my carry-on for it. So far this is what I'm bringing.

I started to PM you a couple days ago...knew your trip was around this time of the year but wasn't really sure when. I've been busy, busy, busy putting up our Christmas decorations! Pugr Happy Anniversary and have a great trip! I've been debating on whether to bring my big lens or not too. I'm leaning towards it but won't carry it every day.

Thanks. Two bodies (the second primarily is a back-up) are for me and the third (the one without the battery vertical grip) is the DW's. She likes to go really light. I haven't used the Gorillapod a lot, but when I did, I really needed it. I will be primarily using the Cullmann tripod, but I know at some point the DW will want to use a tripod and then I would be without. Its the problem of both of us being photographers. I have to buy two of everything and cover all focal lengths twice. It tends to get expensive.

Take the 300!! TAKE the 300!

I was talking to the critters at Animal Kingdom and they said they were 'gittin all purdyed upped' for ya! You also could try for a shot of Tinker"bell" flying around the castle and settle the debate once and for all if it's TinkerBELL or TinkerBILL flying around up there!

Tonight, while you can't fall asleep because you're afraid you won't hear the alarm clock, make a mental list of all the shots you want to get... Then you'll know if you need the 300.

Its 4:25 a.m. and we're walking out the door on the way to the airport. The DW did an excellent job (several years ago we almost missed our plane, "What's 10 minutes!!") of getting ready and packing. Because of the '300', she actually is carrying some of my stuff. Thanks again everyone for the good wishes and good shooting! Hopefully, I can get some good shots to share.
