My dh goes to auctions all the time. About a month ago, he told me he found an auction that I would like. A sb store had been foreclosed upon and the auction was yesterday. Well, how could I pass that up?

There weren't that many people there, probably only about 10 at the most that was bidding on the scrapbook supplies. I "bought" a section for $30 that had about 45 punches, a cropper hopper paper holder, a glass cutting mat, tons of die cuts, a lot of metal embellishments and gobs of other stuff.

The next section that I "bought" was for $60 and had a box with probably 200 sticker sheets-large size ones, really cute stuff, lots of laser cuts, 6 plastic organizers full of stuff, and lots more.

I was so excited, I couldn't wait to get home and start really digging through all my goodies. My dd b'day is next month, and I was already planning what I was going to save out for her.

Well, at the end of the auction, they add up what everything sold for, then add 10% on to that and offer up the whole lot as a bulk sale. Right at the last second, some woman bid on the whole lot and took everything. My dh said they have to offer it that way-state law or something- but that he had never seen anyone actually buy the whole lot. Me and everyone else who had won the various items were so disappointed.

So, like I said, I almost had a good bargain!

I'm crushed for you! How dare that women! i think you need to go out and have a shopping spree the make up for it;)

Oh man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would have been SO mad! Major bummer...

I would probably have stood up and told her off!!! Does she not know what she did to you and the other women? Guess it was fair, but sheeesh!

I felt the excitment for you as you were telling about the bidding and what you would get. Then how heart breaking to have someone bid on the whole lot. Just doesn't seem fair the way they do that.

That is weird! And definitely not the way they do things in Michigan. Once the auctioneer says going, going, gone! it is yours!

I feel your pain!

What a bummer. Glad I live in Michigan!!! I just feel like I lost it myself. Think positive. The paper products and stickers were probably loaded with acid and lignen (LOL)!

So sorry!

Wow! When we lived in Kansas we went to auctions all of the time. Never once did that happen. Doesn't seem fair. I agree with whoever posted that you deserve a "shopping spree".

I knew that you all would feel my excitement and my pain. All the way home, we were wishing bad things upon the sb supplies - not on the lady herself. She was going to have to get a trailer or something to haul everything (tables, chairs, refrig, microwave)-lots of other big items. We were saying we hope all the paper blows off the trailer and we hope the stickers aren't sticky.

I do agree about the shopping spree though. I told my dh to just give me the money we didn't spend and drop me off at my LSS. I don't think he trusted me at that point though, so he took me out for lunch instead.

Oh, that is disappointing! I've never heard of such a thing!

I hope the punches all stick! lol
