almost double-digits; what to start packing?

the countdown is on! i have already started packing clothing, as i buy summer clothes on clearance or start to get ready for fall and school...

i'm so excited i can hardly stand it, so many thoughts in my mind about what to take! i want to start packing 'officially', but don't know where to start! i have disney 'goodies' (surprises for the kids, who don't know when we're going) all over the house.

please help! when and what do you pack? i guess i'm looking to put some order to the process!

This may sound crazy but I started packing for my May trip in September. Instead of putting the summer clothes in storage I put them in suitcases. There are some great packing lists on the web, but I can't remember the sites. Basically I just put everything I wanted to bring in the suitcases as I came across it. I also packed things like ponchos, film, batteries, sunglasses, etc pretty early.

ME to! Me to! I plan to pack the summer stuff in suitcases instead of in the closet. I have my travel toothpaste, laundry detergent, film, prizes for our car games, etc. Trying to decide how to pack everyone in their own suitcase, or double up on some! I'm thinking several smaller suitcases as opposed to a couple of huge ones. It seems they would be easier to make room for then the big ones. Any suggestions?

I started packing at the beginning of June. So far I have:
Road Atlas
Coloring Books for the plane ride and crayons
New swimming suits for the girls :adore
fanny pack
sun block
beach towels

I *think* that's it so far.... I try to throw stuff in there as I think of it so I don't accidently forget it.

today i bought all our sundries and put them in my bag... wrapped and packed up all the little gifties for the kids (made labels w/disney font w/little sayings from diff't characters for each gift... i.e. mister fan says "dear jxxxx, you're the COOLEST! love, mickey")... also got alot of singles from the bank this morning so i could dole it out into the envelopes for mousekeeping each day... packed up our fanny packs, water bottle straps, and a bunch of other stuff... also packed up all the kids airplane "toys" ('cept for the ones they are still using like gameboys) and anything else we are not planning to use between now and trip time...

i'm really light years ahead of where i have ever been when preparing for a trip before... and i credit the disboards and all you disboarders... THANKS!

been packing since april. lol every time i bought something that was specifically for disney i would put it in the suitcase. swim shoes, bathing suits, disposable cameras, shorts and t's (don't want them ruined before the trip) and lots of other sundries. now that i'm getting close, i will go thru all the stuff and check off what i'm missing so i can get that all in the next couple weeks. i like to have everything before 2wks before so i can sort and re-sort everything until it's just perfect. also, we're driving so i made journals and colouring books in april lol. i already have the route mapped and my stops marked out. now i just need to go over everything to make sure its perfect!

now that it's getting close i have the suitcase opened. I made a pile of all the clothes i had already bought and sorted to see what i had for each person and put them in the case. as i was putting stuff in, i checked it off so that i know what else i need. toiletries and shoes will be going in a separate smaller case so that nothing gets dirty or ruined by a bottle opening. I have all the toiletries except contact lense stuff already packed ( new toothbrushes so i won't forget at the last minute lol)

Wow.... I pack the day before.... maybe two days before. I fold all the outfits for the kids up and zip them in a baggie... socks, underwear... everthing.

Our clothes I roll....

I do make a list and a pile ahead of time....

Packing...sheesh!
I'm usually an anal retentive packer who packs EVERYTHING for EVERY season and ever possible event.
This year however, we travel with my 7 month old son (he will be 9 months at the time of the trip) and I'm discovering packing is a WHOLE different ballgame.
The only thing I've packed so far, is a set of baby spoons. That I KNOW I would forget and feeding him is hard without them!
I simply don't know where to begin. Everything I want to pack, I'm afraid I'll need the second I toss it into the suitcase!

Haven't really started packing yet but I understand DWhittles delimma w/the new baby. We took our first trip to WDW last May with our ds and I packed WAY to much because I was so afraid of needing something we didn't pack! I've learned my lesson though. We're packing a lot lighter this time! That was just way too much luggage last time.

What did you pack that you didn't need? I always pack like I'm going to the amazon and they won't have ANYTHING there...
I'd appreciate your tips on what did and didn't work for you!

Our tip last August was delayed because we were supposed to leave the night of the big black out. We couldn't leave because I couldn't pack in the dark!

My mantra - they have LOTS of stores down there!

I have started putting together a "first aid kit". Adult and childrens motrin, bandaids, firstaid cream, cortizone cream and a thermonitor.

Sundrie items...are all purchased and packed. I went to the $ store and they had childrens toothbrush and travel size toothpast bubble gum flavored.

I have packed my backpack...rain poncho's, sunscreen, camera, wipes.

A first aid kit is a GREAT IDEA!
That way if something happens, I can tell my husband to get what I need and it won't take him hours to find it!
