I'm very excited. My husband and I made our purchase last month on the Disney Wonder. We 'close' on Monday, 12/10; we made a minimum purchase at Animal Kingdom (our choices were Animal Kingdom or Aulani). We felt we'd visit Florida more than we'd visit Hawaii since we are avid cruisers.
Also, not only are we about to be new DVC members, my husband is now a Disney employee (his location they aren't referred to as Cast Members). We'll have some perks that we can use at WDW so, I'll be in a planning mode soon. So we're hoping that he'll have enough vacation time to use. We'll receive the initial points, but because our UY starts in June, we have to decide what we want to do with those points no later than January 31, 2013.
We already have a cruise planned out of Ft. Lauderdale next November, so we might just use points to stay a few days before in Orlando and visit WDW. We've never been to WDW before. We're in Los Angeles, so we always go to Disneyland.
I have been reading lots, and certainly have my job cut out for me as far as investigating everything, including ADR's, EMH's, ME's etc. See I have done some work. Trying to figure out if it's cheaper to Fly R/T to from LAX & Ft. Lauderdale, and then R/T from Ft. Lauderdale & MCO. I know that as of the first of next month (January) I can make reservations at my home resort for November 2013. Decisions, decisions.
I know that I will probably be using some of my points for a Disneyland stay sometime soon, so need to get it all figured out
