Allstars Resorts and POR, which one????

Hi,
My family and i just narrowed down to two hotels that my children would like to stay at on our next trip....My boys would like to stay at the Allstars Movies or Sports and i would like to try the POR....I've heard good reviews on the POR for families......Is there a big difference between these two hotels...I've heard some people mention that the rooms are no better than the value resorts..Is that true???Would it be worth us paying the extra going to the POR or should we just stay at the Allstars???I hate to pay a hundred dollars more a night for not getting any thing more than i could get at the allstars????Are the rooms about the same size in both resorts???Thanks

POR's rooms are a little bit bigger but not that much. But the resort is 1000% better. Don't get me wrong all stars are okay but POR is worth the extra money in my opinion. How long are you staying? And how old are the boys?

POR's main pool is far better than the AS's and I think that you and your husband would really like it there much better. The quiteness of POR can be great after a long day at the parks.

We stayed at PORS for the 3rd time this past weekend. There is so much more to do at the resort than at All stars. My advice is this...if you plan to spend all your time at the main parks, then stay at All Stars. If you plan to spend time at the resort too, than go to PORS. The theme pools at PORS and POFQ are so great that you don't need to go to a water park. You can fish at PORS, $4 a half hour. Rent a bike or boat. Take a free boat ride beyween RS and FQ and DTD. On a weekend see a family show w/ the "piano guy." There is even a new campfire on Fri, Sun, and one other night at the theme pool! You can arrange to go on a carriage ride. The only recreation at the All stars is the arcade and swimming. (oh yeah, they now have a refrig in the room at PORS...most rooms)

Weve stayed at POR twice, ASMO 3x and ASSP once. We much prefer the All Stars over POR.

My family & I have stayed at POR about four time and the ALLStars two time also, and we liked POR the best. The rooms are alot bigger and the pool has a slide which is a added plus. If I had to choose I would go with POR!

I'm hoping to stay at the resort for atleast eight days or more...This stay will be during the christmas holidays of 2005...The only reason i'm asking so early is that in January i'm going to reserve our vacation so i'm trying to plan it out just right...My boys will be seven and fourteen the time of our trip...What is the bus system like at this POR???

We've stayed at ASMo & DxL (POR) in the past. I'd take DxL (POR) without hesitation.

We've also stayed at both and without a doubt I would tell you to stay at POR!

IMO, the buses are a pain at any resort you stay at! I guess at POR, you are closer to Epcot and MGM, so that may save a little time but the buses just always seem slow to me.

I would with out a doubt stay at POR. That way you can get the trundle bed and the boys won't have to sleep in the same bed. Even a Christmas time the resort will feel less crowded than allstars. Have a wonderful time.

The busses are a little iffy at POR but thats at any resort.

POR! My DH just stayed at an All Star for the first time in Oct (for bachelor party, I didn't go) and he said All Stars lacked the Disney magic. But we don't have children yet so I'm not sure what difference that makes.

I've stayed at all of the resorts you named. If your boys are interested in staying at the All Stars and if you plan to spend most your time at the theme parks, save your money. Kids love that place and they may or may not want to stay there when they are older. My husband is a HUGE All-Star fan, since it offers an excellent value dollar for dollar; he prefers to spend the difference between mods and value on meals and entertainment. For me, I liked POR. I liked having a water slide at the pool, I liked the hot tub ,I liked the lush theming, I liked having a restaurant on site and the opportunity to take boats to Downtown DIsney (didn't do it) carriage rides (didn't do it) and boat rentals (didn't do it.) So, as you can see, we paid extra for things we didn't do, but I liked knowing that I could if I wanted. Does that make sense? Hope that helps.

I forgot to mention the busses. wIthout a doubt, the bus service was better at the All Stars. The bus service was so horrible at POR last November (when the busses served JUST FQ) that we ended up using our rental car.

I would pick a moderate resort anyday over Allstars.
