This is our first family trip and first on site stay. We moved to the Allstar Music from Pop because they offered the free dining and all of Pop's room were booked for that promotion so we switched to Music. Can anyone give me any tips on Music? Which building to ask for, which pool is better/less crowded better for kids etc... food court info, transportation etc.... anythng I might use helpful. It's going to be Myself, DH, DS9 and DD7. Thanks

I am sure you will enjoy your stay at Music. Your kids will love the main pool with Dthe squirting Donald fountain.

I am 55 years old and travel several times a year. I often stay at 4 star hotels.
So the deluxe resorts do not have anything special for me.
All Star is like being in the heart of the Magic and that is where I want to be.

All Star Music is my favorite. It is quieter because more couples stay there. I love staying at the Clypso building. It is closer to the pool, food court and bus stop.

Here is a site with a map of All Star Sports and All Star Music.
http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/allstarmap.htm
Scroll down. All Star Music is at the bottom of the page.
The Calypso buildings at All Star Music are #1 and #10 are nearest to the food court and bus stop.
They are the preferred buildings and cost about $12 extra per night.
The Calypso pool at ASMU has Donald Duck.

Here is the map of All Movies.
http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/allstarmovie.JPG
The Fantasia Buildings are the preferred buildings.
The All Star Movie Fantasia pool has Mickey.
It is a great place to stay .
Preschoolers love it.
It is like being in the middle of a Disney Movie Fantasyland..

The All Star resorts are all within walking distance of each other and you are welcome to use any of the pools at any of the ALL Stars. That means 3 main pools,3 quiet pools and 3 kiddie pools to chose from.
All Star Music has Donald, Movies has Mickey and the quiet pool at Sports has Goofy.
There is a statue of Ariel by the quiet pool at All Star Music.

The buses are wonderful.

Bus rides are quite short from the ALL Stars according to PassPorter.com

All Star Buses-CBR buses---POP buses--PO buses--- Contemporary
MK 20 min---- 20 min-----25 min------10 min---20 min(mono)
Epcot 10 min-- 15 min-----20 min------10 min---15 min
MGM 10 min----12 min-----15 min------15 min---20min
AK 10 min------20min-------15 min----15 min---20 min
DTD 15 min----20 min------20 min-----15 min---35 min

It only takes 10 minutes to get to Epcot,MGM and AK from All Stars.
MK is 20 min away. That's the same amount of time it takes on the monorail from the Contemporary.

The All Star resorts have 1960 rooms each.
Pop has 2,880rooms.
That means more people in the pools, food court and in line waiting for the bus at POPThe food court and gift are seperate at the ALL stars. They are combined at the POP. That makes the foodcourt area even busier at POP.

When phase 2 of POP is built it will be 2 bus stops at POP and the 2 POPs will have the same # of rooms as the 3 All Stars.

Also All Star is closer to the main road to get to parks and thats why bus rides are shorter from there than from POP.

A WORD ABOUT BUS SHARING:

It is usually just our stop and maybe one more on the way to the parks. On the way back sometimes its all 3 but often Sports and Music share and Movies has it's own bus back.

I guess some people who stay at POP see all 3 All Star names on the return sign of our bus stop when they head to the POP bus stop and think All Stars also has 3 stops on the way to the park.
(Even when we stop at another AS resort to load up it has not taken more than 5 minutes and we are on our way!)

I have visited WDW more than a dozen times with the 1st time in Oct. 1971. It was brand new. :cloud9: I've stayed at FW, Disney Inn, a few the of Hotels on hotel Blvd., CBR and the towers at the Contemporary. I got to see the MK from my balcony at the Contemporary and I'm happy I got to experience it once. :flower: I just prefer the All Star Resorts.
The theaming is pure Disney. :earsboy: :earsgirl:
My last 4 visits have been at The All Stars and this fall when we take dd,dsil, and our grandson age 3 we are staying at the All Stars Music. I thought about AKL and even though we can well afford AKL I just wanted Alex to experience the Disney Magic :wizard: at the All Stars on his first visit.
Where else can one find Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse at the pool?
Have a great time at Disney!

Dd and I love Music. We stayed in Jazz bldg, towards the back on the third floor. It was incredibly quiet back there. It was a fairly quick walk to the food court and buses. We really enjoyed it there a lot. In fact, dd, then 10, liked it better than the Polynesian!!! We just stayed at Pop last month and she liked that also. Music seemed to be a bit more grown up than Movies but I could be wrong. We liked everything about it. And we were there with the cheerleaders and dancers!!!! Well, not with them actually, but at the same time!!

You'll LOVE Music !!! It's one of our fav's. If you can get the Jazz building, you'll be very close to the food court. Make sure you take a walk around at night because it's just beautiful! And you can use the pools/food courts/refillable mugs from all 3 of the All Stars since they are sister resorts.

Enjoy!

We're also fans of the ASMusic. We stayed there on our first trip (Country Fair - very last two rooms!!) and then dh and I stayed there alone a couple of years later (Broadway -- much better, LOL!).

We really enjoyed the resort, and sometimes add a night or two there at the beginning of our DVC stays, just 'cuz we love it! :)

Have a great time!!

Ive stayed at All Star Music 3 times. I really enjoy it. In fact all of the All Stars are nice but that one is my personal fav. We have stayed in the Jazz buildings twice and Broadway once. Broadway was a bit of a hike for my best friend who sprained her ankle while we were there. But I didnt mind it. DH and I stayed in Jazz for our honeymoon and it was nice. They put us on the ground floor on the left hand side of the buiding right out infront of the fountain garden just past the main pool.

This past feb they put us in Jazz again, same room just one floor above it which was kind of nice.

The only thing Im not such a fan of is being the middle bus stop and having to manouver off the bus. However we did find that sometimes they had busses just for one hotel if you left at say the end of the day and those were great. The bussess always filled up fast but they sent another really quickly.

Have fun!

We loved our stay at the All-star Music and loved it. We stayed in Calypso - but if you can't get in Calypso - Jazz is just as close to the food court and transportation. Rooms were good - for the three of us the room was a good size.

Food - great breakfast and dinner choices. We only ate a couple of meals due to the dining plan - but DD loved the Mickey Waffles. Great drink refills for coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and carbonated beverages

Pools - loved the pools. Jazz and Calypso are close to Guitar pool.

Transportation - no problems getting places. Only time lines were long were after Wishes and Illuminations at park. After first two nights we deciced not to be in the mad rush and had no trouble. We skipped Fantasmic and had the bus to our selves with no wait. Extra Magic hours night - we left in the middle and again had no trouble.

Any other questions, please let me know.

We have stayed at ASMu two times out of five trips to WDW. Even though it is a value resort, by far it has been our favorite. Love the theming and the general atmosphere. My entire family loves this resort. My married children will probably always think of this as their "home' resort, since it was the first, and they absolutely loved everything about it. I know you will have a wonderful time at ASMu. :cool1:

We like Broadway because it's quiet and near the quiet pool, but we don't travel with young children, and we usually have a car. I like the third floor not matter which building you stay in, I don't like people above me.

my family has stayed at as music 3 times and we've loved everything about it. i have to agree that the broadway section is a great section to stay in. it is very close to the piano pool, which is always nice. the theming is great, i specifically remember different music playing outside of the different themed sections, but maybe that's not there anymore? the only thing that i remember having a problem with was the busing system, since the buses go to as sports first and generally never left any room for people in the music section. i don't know if they have changed that (the last time we stayed there was 2004), but it sure could be a pain if you are trying to get a bus back from somewhere at closing hours.

My SIL and BIL stayed in Calypso when they went and hated it. She said it was way to noisy and not at all what she had expected. I raved about ASMo and she was expecting what I had but then again I had a 4 yr old with me and he was so thrilled about everything. They didnt have kids at the time
