Allocated seating trial at Fantasmic***Now with another new twist, see page 15, #288***

I don't see any opposition to pre assigned sections...mostly just preassigned seats and and small seat widths (which would be a non issue if they choose one of the 2 other options). I don't really see anyone saying that none of the options are OK.

I don't even care if they do preassigned seating, as long as I can choose the seating myself when I make the reservation, as I would for any sporting event or concert with seating assignments. But I do highly doubt that Disney's IT can integrate that function with MDE.

Biggest problem being assigned a random seat without control.

Solution:
Assigning sections could make it tolerable as long as access to the tickets or online booking was convenient.

Second problem the impact on the FP system by removing it.

Solution:
Nothing will help this until the third track opens on TSMM and more star wars rides arrive in 2021.

Third problem in its current test form - the undoing of the scheduling online perk.

Some Solutions:
A. It could get moved to a non-fast pass scheduling event which could end up as feeding frenzy on line.
OR
B. Not enough people will book it online and it won't matter much because people will be able to get one casually during the day if they choose.

Based on the demand at DLR and the lack of attractions at dhs comparatively I would guess choice A is more likely.

Fourth problem.
As you alluded to... IT.

Solutions: lol

If they just assign sections, won't they still have people lining up early to get their favored spot within that given section?

I think they are really just dealing with the fallout of so little attraction development in this park in recent years. There might not be a good answer.

Do you think they could offer a dining and night time show package in conjunction with Harambe or pizzafari?

Are they building a table service restaurant at Pizzafari? That could be a dining package location. I don't think this is off topic, because I think this DHS test is collecting data that will help decide both nighttime shows. There is no doubt that Disney is looking to find ways to increase their money generated on dining packages.

If they took Fantasmic! Out of the loop and made it like an ADR, would they also require the $10.00 guarantee and 24 hour cancelation? If they use it for restaurants that are always empty, they might use it for popular shows.

Mercy. I can tell I'm totally immersed in a planning period right now. Lots of questions.

I do NOT think they will treat it like an ADR. It is weather dependent.

Best solution IMO would be to allow people to book their seats online similar to an airplane. I suspect they would book the rows left to right so if you were the first one online - you'd have a choice of all of the left seats in each (assigned) section). If you log on later some rows would have availability more towards the middle or the further end - this way they could (IF IT was up to it) strategically fill the theater without any awkward 'leftover' seats between groups.

Folks who have been to F! would have an advantage as they would have a favorite row/ section. Although you would never know if there was someone tall seated in front of you.

Allow other folks to pick up a ticket for a seat on the actual day (allow booking in advance of that obviously)

Update for anyone who may be wanting a report for the reserved sections - I came down with some sort of chest cold this weekend so I will not be going tonight for sure, and probably not tomorrow night either since I have a trip this weekend that I would rather not be sick for. (and I'm sure all the other guests would appreciate not getting sick)

Hopefully someone else is able to make it and report back

Feel better!

Despite the fact that I've never had a problem getting a seat before, I rather like the idea of knowing I'll have a seat prior to getting in line. Of course Disney is counting on that proclivity being what makes me quietly accept the change. What I do not like is the possibility that I could get stuck in the center of the row, halfway down. My claustrophobia has gotten worse as I've gotten older, and I almost never go to events where I can't pick my seat for this reason. I can cope if I'm moving, but being stationary... no. Just no. If they implement this long-term, in all likelihood I won't take the risk.

Not sure if I am reading that correctly, but what would prevent somebody, family or group from coming in and just saying 'the guy with the fastpass already checked in for us'? What am missing?

I think they will scan the first person's band. Let's say there are four people all linked together and all have a FP for the show. They will then hit a button saying all four went in. So everyone admitted will get their FP redeemed in the computer, just not through scanning against the Mickey head.

So if a random person comes up and says, oh my leader already checked us in, they could scan that person's band and see if that was true or not for his band (was his FP+ for Fantasmic redeemed)

I think that is what will happen, but then I would wonder how strictly they will monitor this, like could we book 3 out of the 5 of us for FP+ for Fantasmic but bring in all 5 at once as a group ?

This might also get nightmarish for groups who have issues linking their whole party together, or for multiple parties that are one large group, etc etc.... lololol.

This is going to confuse so many people, wish I could set up with popcorn to watch.

I don't think so, at least from what I understood.

Yeah, it will work fine up to the family of 4 two adults two kids, all on the same MDE, who never split up. Everyone else...good luck!

How will this work with a child too young for a fastpass? My son is 2 so we can't get a fastpass for him, but he'll still be seeing the show with us. Do we have to hold him on our laps since he won't have an assigned seat?

I am really interested to see how this works, but sadly I am not able to test this one since I am only a party of one.

I see it being most useful during tour group season honestly. This way only a leader has to scan rather than all 30 students.
It can be also useful with small children who take a while to put Mickey to Mickey, but they are the ones that want to scan.

This version of the test does not have assigned seats so it would not matter.

If they do assign seats in the future and it becomes automated online, I suspect they will give the option to select him as a member of your party just like with dining so that he would be given a seat

We are arriving on Friday, October 23rd and will hopefully be at DHS by 3:00 ish. That will be our only night to see Fantasmic. Are we doomed to not be able to see it because we won't be there earlier in the day??

Not at all. These are just tests, the showings of F! that aren't in the test dates are just like normal, with a possible use of a FP+ slot or just wait in the line.
