Alligators Visit the Parks Too!

They will most certainly be destroyed, given the overpopulation. They practically give away gator hunting licenses in Florida, which is helping control the population. The Fish and Wildlife Commission will send out a trapper to remove and destroy the animals. There is even a gator nuisance hot-line number.

“In 2014, SNAP received 13,599 nuisance alligator complaints resulting in the removal of 6,706 nuisance alligators.”

Poor gators. We come in build our homes on their land then we kill them as they are labelled a 'nuisance.'
That goes for any animal whose habitat has been destroyed when humans come to town and build.

Despite being a big Disney fan i wonder how many animals had their habitat ruined when wdw was built.

I agree. I can't stand when they show a gator on the news being trapped. You can see it fighting for it's life, just makes me sick to my stomach. I can't imagine being one of those people who line up to do the actual trapping and killing.

Yes you cant blame the gators they are just trying to survive in a messed up habitat.

I have seen footage of gators being skinned alive for shoes and bags.

The pain that the alligators go through must be horrific.

What wonderful beings we are.
I don't think I'd approach a live alligator with a sharp instrument unless it's for my own survival. I can't imagine someone trying to skin a live gator...

I saw one for the first time at Coronado Springs two years ago. It was about 3 feet long. We've stayed at Caribbean Beach 14 times and have never seen one in their lake - although I'm sure they're some in there.

Do you want a link to a video of live gators being skinned?

We've never seen one in the parks, but a couple of years ago, we saw one on the grass next to the boat dock at DownTown. It had a nice little mud slide on the bank, and was just laying out there in the grass sunning it's self. It was the first time I had seen a gator not in captivity, so I thought it was pretty cool.
