My son fell in love with alligator bites when we went to Gulf Shores almost 2 years ago. I thought it would be fun to get him some for Christmas, but everywhere I look I have to have a minimum order or shipping is astronomical. Anyone know where I can get some with FREE SHIPPING or atleast a code to discount them?

Perishable food is always going to have a minimum order and significant shipping costs.

My only suggestion would be calling any local (or as far away as you're willing to drive) seafood vendors to see if they carry it or if they can special order it from one of their suppliers for you.

What's your approximate location?

Louisiana Crawfish is estimating about $13 shipping via FedEx ground to California for a 2 lb bag ($34). It's $100 for free shipping. Oh - and coupon codes:

Still - I had some alligator at a county fair. $9 for two small pieces - I'm guessing 1.5 oz total. If nobody told me what it was I'd be hard pressed to tell that it wasn't just some kind of fish filet.

If you are close enough to Kansas City you can probably make your own for a WHOLE lot less.
Vietnamese markets tend to carry alligator meat; you might try 888 Market, Chinatown market or Kim Long market. A lb. of frozen alligator meat should run no more than about $20..

Asian markets also often carrry Zatarain's Fish Fry mix, which is the one most commonly used to make gator nuggets. Just soak the pieces in buttermilk, roll them in Z-Fry, and brown them in hot oil.

I live in Kansas.

I put in some random zip code and got about $12 for FedEx ground shipping. However, buy three 2 lb bags and they'll overnight it for free.

Would <3 this! Unfortunately, I called & none of them carry it :sad2:

Their catalog says they have 5 lb tub of tail meat. You could probably batter or bread it yourself. It's also primarily a foodservice company, so I'm not sure if they'd even sell without a wholesale account.

Oh - it occurs to me that Cabela's often has exotic meats. Not sure if your closest store would carry meat other than dried snacks like jerky. I went to the store near Reno looking for something exotic, but all they had was elk jerky and maybe wild boar in the restaurant.

5 lbs - $59.99. They say free shipping with at least $49, although they also say it ships (1-2 weeks) directly from the manufacturer, so that may not apply. Photo shows them deep fried in some sort of batter, but the description sounds like it's just tail meat in chunks.

OK - I checked it and there is free shipping right now with the code 4JOLLY, and this can be applied to this item. Not sure what you'd do with 5 lbs of alligator meat other than freeze most of it, but this is the best price I've seen.
