Lots of folks said they were going to try the weight loss drug Alli. I was wondering how folks liked it...

I did, it's ok but be ready for gas and running to the bathroom...........i do think it does help with weight loss, i don't take it everyday, just on weekends so i don't offend others at work, if you know what i mean

have you tried going to the boards on myalli.com? There are lots of posts on just how it is working and plenty about the side effects! Have not been there for a while but it seemed like alot of folks were trying it.

Bev

I'm happy with it so far, it's been 2 weeks and I've lost 5 pounds

I haven't had any of the side effects, I notice I do get a bit gassy sometimes, but I wonder if it's only if I eat a little too much :confused3 The best thing about that pill is that it helps me to not cheat, I have never had enough willpower to stick to a diet, but this has really made me keep at it since I'm afraid of having a side effect :rotfl:

a whopping two pound weight loss for $70 was soooo not worth it to me. I followed the plan and lucky me had the "treatment effects" :(. I e-mailed GSK (the manufacturer) about my displeasure and requested a refund. I had to call their customer service dept only to to be told "sorry, we don't have a money back guarantee". I was not happy. I guess it's my fault for not researching that aspect ahead of time.

My experience is similar to yours. :goodvibes I LOVE the product. I am also sticking like glue to the low-fat diet that is recommended. I am actually attending Weight Watchers meetings along with taking the Alli pills. I like the accountability provided by the WW weigh ins, and I like the fact that I only weigh in once a week. In addition to the aforementioned, I am also exercising.

Before I actually say how much I've lost, and the amount of time it has taken me to lose it, I need to say that I do have a very large amount of weight to lose. (I am definitely in the morbidly obese category.) In the past 10 weeks, I have lost 37.4 pounds! I feel wonderful, and I am definitely losing weight faster than I have in the past. I have experienced very few "treatment effects." The few times I did experience these, they were never actually bad enough for me to want to stop taking Alli.

Alli is doing great things for me. I will gladly put up with a little gas and bloating if I continue to see these results on the scales.:)

Just so you know:
I did read that it is only supposed to be for those with a BMI of 27 or higher. It also needs to be in combination with a low fat diet and exercise plan in order to work at all. According to their info: "In studies, most people lost 5-10 pounds over 6 months. for every 5 pounds you lose alone, Alli can help you to lose 2-3 more pounds."
The only way to avoid the yucky "treatment effects" :scared: is to make sure that your meals contain no more than 15 grams of fat per meal.

Thought about it but thought it was pretty expensive since we (fiance and I) wanted to diet so we went Raw instead sticking to all uncooked, unprocessed foods and I have lost 12.9 pounds since 8/17, pretty good I think.

Just wondering if any of you are nervous about taking this?

I know they say it is safe, but I'm the type of person who won't even take an Advil or Tylenol unless I'm in serious need of one. I'm probably paranoid, but I always worry about the risk down the road.....like will it cause damage to the heart or liver...cause cancer, that kind of thing.

Does anyone else worry about this stuff?

Heather

WOW!!
just wanted say congrats, & keep up the good work!! :thumbsup2

I am taking it. My BMI is 28, I'm 5'9 and weighed 182 when starting it.
I've been on since Tuesday and have lost 9 lbs and have not had a single treatment effect. I have stayed strict to the 1200 calories and 12-15 grams of fat w/ it and exercising every day. I don't know how much is the pill vs the exercise and watching what I eat, but it at least is making me not want the fat.

My BMI is 24* so it is not really for me- but I have about 15 lbs to lose, so I have been supplementing my WW plan with Alli. (been on ww for 9 months, just over a week with Alli) The good news is- I have had ZERO treatment effects. The bad news is, I haven't lost any extra weight.

I can't say that the thought hasn't crossed my mind, BUT.....

I have 148 more pounds to lose, and I know that fact alone is a HUGE risk factor for cancer, heart disease, etc. I would rather have what little time I have left to be that of quality vs. continuing to live the way I have for the past 20+ years, only to find myself somewhere down the road in a state that would have me homebound for the rest of my life. Alli was the key to unlocking something within me that I am willing not only to pay for, but to continue doing for as long as it takes. When I feel that I am capable of sticking to a healthier lifestyle without it, then I will quit.:thumbsup2

WOW!!
just wanted say congrats, & keep up the good work!! :thumbsup2

Thank you so much for your encouragement! :goodvibes: (It tends to be difficult to find these days.) ;)

The starter pack is $47 at Amazon for 90 pills... for some reason it's even cheaper than the 60 pill starter pack :confused3
