I was wondering if anyone else has allergies that can helpme here.

I am allergic to shell fish and cannot even touch them, so I am worried about places we are eating. The places we are looking at serve Steaks and things like that but they also have shellfish meals and apps. I was wondering if I need to let the know I am allergic or do they use sep. cookware, oil, and cutting boards for seafood and redmeat. We go out to eat at home and I usually do not worry, but I have noticed the DW places serve alot of seafood. If anyone has an idea please let me know. Thanks.

My nephew has the same deadly allergy. His is so bad that we cannot eat shellfish in his presence. When we made our adrs, they noted his allergy on the reservation. At most restaurants, they came out and talked to us about what he could and could not have. We did not have any problems, and we ate at places that served shellfish. I think Disney is very careful about allergies--they are used to accommodating people with this issue.

Let them know when you make your ADR'S and make sure your server is aware. I have a severe allergy to tree nuts on the buffet lines they let you know what to stay away from. Disney is great with special requests.

I think this is the reason Ohannas has stopped serving the shrimp on the grill skewers. When we were there they made all mine and DD's meat on a seperate grill because they brush the beef with butter so all the meats would be contaminated. (Dairy allergy.)

My niece is allergic to shellfish and we ate at Columbia harbor house. She loves fish and clams and wasn't allergic to them. However she had the calm chowder and had an allgergic recation to it. We did get to 1st aid who gave her benedryl. They said there was no shell fish in it. Since then she doesn't eat calms either.

To answer your questions, Disney was very good about allergys, much better then most places. :goodvibes

We have booked our vacation for September 2007 and am soooooooo glad to hear the great news about how well the staff and the restaurants handle this deadly allergy.party: My family of 4 and my sisters family of 4 is spending 2 special birthdays:bday: and really don't want to know that no place would help accomidate us at all....

Disney is amazing about food allergies and special diets.

I'm not only allergic to a bunch of things (carrots, bananas, cucumbers, coconuts, shellfish and turkey), but I'm a vegetarian too. I always mention all my allergies on my ADRs as well as tell the waiter/waitress. I've never had a problem :)

Disney caters to folks who obsessively worry about allergies, so you'll have zero problem. If you want to talk about it with them, they'll even send out a cook from the kitchen to chat with you.

I have a shellfish allergy, too. I do not eat in restaurants that primarily serve seafood - the smell of it grosses me out, and that's the truth. Plus, I have ordered burgers from those places in the past and ended up in the hospital, so I just scratch them off my list. :)

I also don't eat at Chinese/Japaese places, for the same reason.

Other than that, I've eaten almost everywhere else on Disney property and have never had a problem. I don't advise them of my allergy - I just hope for the best and carry an Epi-pen. :) Worse comes to worst, I have the Epi-pen, which will buy me time to get the hospital. Celebration hospital is close by.

But, like I said, never had a problem. :)

I have an allergy to peanuts and when I mention this they always have the chef's come out and talk to me. When we dined at Boma a few years ago one of the chef's came out and took me around the buffet and pointed out what I should leave alone.

Absolutely tell the CM of your allergy when you make ADRs. You never know what may have a hidden allergen. The chefs are great about accomodating allergies. If you eat in a restaurant that serves shellfish, but have a concern about cross-contamination, tell the chef about the severity of your allergy and ask for your food to be prepared in a clean pan. They do this all the time. Even if you eat at a buffet place, they can prepare something special for you. At CS, it's probably best to avoid places that with shellfish on the menu, because it's not as easy for them to deal with special requests. Don't fret too much about it, but ask questions and be prepared.
