Just booked myself in for a thorough allergy test at a local pharmacy. I have IBS so i'm hoping it will giving me some answers. Has anyone ever had one? Just wondered what it involved and if it made your life easier after if they found anything. Thanks:thumbsup2

Hiya

I have just had a blood allergy test, still waiting for the results though

my mum has a pharmacy one booked for next wednesday for the same reason as you, shes desperate to know if she can avoid anything to reduce the ibs

This is interesting I also suffer IBS,Stomach problems.
Never heard of the test with the chemist??

I've had a blood one taken, and I was only slightly reactive to something but she said it wasnt anything to be concerned of.

Would like to hear more about the other though :thumbsup2

I just happend to walk past our local chemist in town and read a sign. They do 2, so i decided to have the complete MOT:rotfl:

I think it must be an independent person though as they lady said he also does holland and barrett testing.

i suffer from IBS and am quite worried about issues on upcoming trip.
I have a severe intollerance to onions, inc onion powder which is in everything!
good luck with finding your triggers
tracy

Can I just fellow sufferers,do any of you get trapped wind incidently under the ribs?? It's just I've had this now for a few days, and nothing seems to help..I was wondering if it is down to IBS.:confused3

I found a good book a few years a go which helped me called 'how to beat the bloat' . you just have to find our what triggers you! the main culprits are : wheat, dairy, onions, red wine, green veg, strawberries.

i have found that switching to soya milk, avoiding red wine, (boo hoo) and limiting my wheat intake has helped me. but different things work for differnet folks. I think a lot is trial and error.

I just can't seem to find a trigger, one day i can eat something and be fine the next im very ill. Just had a small bit of pork with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber and garlic bread, eat it and immediately was sick....I've eaten this meal before and been fine!:confused3

I suffer from IBS and have found the best way to release trapped wind is to kneel on the floor, put my hands and head on the floor and push my bum in the air. It really works, although I wouldn't recommend doing in the middle of a restaurant!!! :rotfl:

I also take oil of peppermint capsules from Holland and Barrett. I take two after every meal and one after every snack.

For about two years after I was first diagnosed with IBS I let it rule my life; I didn't go anywhere or do anything for fear of an attack, however last year I tried hypnosis and it has made a huge difference. I was the biggest sceptic beforehand, but now I would encourage anyone to try it. :goodvibes

:rotfl: No I dont think I'd try that on full view.
I just find I get a trapped pocket under my left rib which gurgles, sounds like I've got a trapped tiger some days :lmao:
I am going to have to make note of certain foods.

Let me know how the test goes on?:goodvibes
