Hi everyone. I was just wondering how many problems I will have at WDW Restaurants since I have recently developed a food allergy :sad2: Believe it or not I have become allergic to tomatoes :confused3 You wouldn't believe how many foods contain tomatoes in it including some marinades. I am so confused and I am not sure what I will be able to eat on the menus. Does anyone know how they handle these food allergies? Any information you could give me would be deeply appreciated. Thank you so much.

Don't know how much help this but DS has a soy allergy and when you check in at the restaurant tell them about the allergy. The chef comes to the table and discusses menu type options. I would call WDW dine some places/allergies need advance warning.

Absolutely tell them when you get to the resturant and check in, if not sooner. My sis, last year just became allergic to chocolate! (after many years of being a chocoholic). Any they go out of there way to ensure her safety. If we order dessert, they explain all ingrediants, and are very careful about utensils too. At the ice cream shop on main street, and it was crowded (we won't go again when its crowded, took up too much time, and everyone else got backed up). They change there gloves, had to get "special" new ice cream scooper, and special handling too. We where very impressed.

I would check out menus here or at deb's www.allearsnet.com and make sure some things are (your best guess) available without tomatoes, that your interested in and stick with them.

Good luck, it really is not a problem at wdw. have a great time! Mky :smickey:

You also might look at the "disABILTIES!" forum. Food allergies are discussed a lot there and it does not have anywhere near the number of pages/threads as this forum.

Just make sure you mention it when you make any of your ADRs. :hippie:

Thank you all so much for your help! I feel so much better!!! mkymouse4ever I am so sorry to hear that your sister developed a allergy to chocolate after eating it her whole life. That's exactly what happened to me. I was a ketchup, pasta w/sauce, eggplant/chicken parm fanatic and out of the blue developed this allergy. I still can't believe it.

I developed allergies to cranberries and pineapple a few years ago. It seems like you could just stay away from those things, but I'm amazed at all the things I find that are flavored with pineapple juice or has bits of cranberry in it. Especially around Christmas.

When I make my ADRs I make sure to tell them about the allergies, then when we're seated I also tell the waiter. Don't want any surprises.

Hello fellow allergy sufferer, I too am allergic to tomatoes!
I have found I can eat 'most' COOKED sauces, I can even eat pizza!! Yey!!
I really have to stay away from 'RAW' tomatoes. I found this out by trial and error. I guess it depends just how bad your allergy is........I know the chefs are very helpful at Disney. Good Luck! :thumbsup2
