Hi...

We are traveling in the next few weeks with a family that has a little boy that has many life threatening allergies. At the moment he is fed with a feeding tube and eats limited table food.

We are staying at the Beach Club Villas and have an "allergy free room". Does anyone have any experience with this? What does that entail? Do you know if there are options available? For example....they need a dust mite cover. They have called but have received different answers at different times. We just want to make sure we have all the bases covered so he can be as comfortable as possible.

Thank you in advance.

I could be wrong but I wouldn't think an allergy free room at Disney means anything more then non-smoking, no pet. I have never heard of such a catagory. To actually do allergy free is a lot of work and expense and I don't believe Disney would go to all the trouble. Yet, I have been wrong before.

Hi and :welcome: to disABILITIES!

Make sure that the reservation includes the notation of "Special Cleaning - Medical Necessity".

If you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. One of the top items is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information. Post # 3 has two sections which may be of special interest, one has to do with allergies in general and the other has to do with diets due to allergies.

Or, if you want an easier route, click on the link in my signature.

All rooms at WDW are pet-free, no smoking. (Although there may be a room which has had a service animal legally stay in it or someone smoking in the room, which is not allowed).

You might also want to check out the information in the disABILITIES FAQs thread about Resorts - in that section there is a phone number for the Special Needs Department. I'd suggest calling that number to discuss your concerns.

We arranged for a special cleaning in advance (DD has severe asthma and allergies), and then also for a room that was not near an outdoor smoking area (we were at POFQ, where the rooms open to the outdoors). Unfortunately, we also ended up bringing some of our own stuff along. DD has to have a humidifier, plus these special pillows and pillowcases and some other things. Depending on what you need, and how much is costs/how bulky it is, somethings are easier to tote yourself.

Good luck! I hope you all have a great trip.
Mary
