I have a grandson who is allergic to all nuts, dairy and eggs.
Anyone have experience with dealing with this at the Parks and Resort>
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

My son has a severe peanut allergy and you won't find a better place than Disney for most allergies. The first thing to do is make sure you have his EpiPen with him at all times. If you are going to be taking turns exploring the parks with him, you might consider getting multiple EpiPens for each adult to carry if your grandson is too young to carry it. As a side note, I keep waiting for the day when my DS (now 8) will be greeted on a date with a variation of Mae West's line...Is that an EpiPen in your pocket or are you just happy to see me? :rotfl:

As you plan your trip, visit the menus at allearsnet.com and see what is on the menu at the restaurants you are interested in visiting. The Coral Reef used to have Peanut Butter Play-Doh as the kid's dessert and was off limits to us as my son will react in proximity to peanuts. Disney makes a great effort to accommodate allergies and you should let the cast member making your dining reservations know what allergies he has. They have a drop down menu and will check all applicable allergies and will even put in "Other" if it is an unique allergy. Let your server know at sit down restaurants about his allergy and the chef will visit with you before recommending and preparing allergy free items. Chef Wes at the Beach Club was great in the summer of 2006.

Counter-service meals will be tougher, but relatively speaking your grandson has more easily avoidable allergies. My goddaughter has nut, dairy, and wheat and the wheat is the worst IMO. Soy milk is available at various counter-service restaurants, but I can't remember them off the top of my head. You can bring small snacks into the parks to be sure he has what he likes and enjoys.

With a little research and diligence, you should have a reaction free trip. We've been on ten trips with no problems at WDW...the late evening flights on Southwest did cause problems, so no more Southwest for us :sad2: .

Good luck!

last trip to disney was in may, my dayghter was 15 months. my daughter is allergic to milk, egg, nuts and soy. i researched before going to wdw. if you go through the disney web site there is a link for food allergies. they will send you a list of food that is ok to eat and where to find them. when you make ADR tell them so that they can make a note on your reservation. once there, tell the waiter/waitrress again of any food allergies. the chef will come and make a special meal.

for your grandson's food allergy i would not worry about it too much, he will be well taken care of. my daughter is also allergic to soy. soy is a tricky one. they put it everywhere now, candy,cookie,bread... i went to the pinocchio house in mk and when i talked to the chef, all he proposed was a platter with 4 pieces of turkey cold meat with carrot sticks and i was charged $7.50. no where on site could i find rice milk. in dowtown disney they gave her plain salmon, about the size of 1/2 deck of card with sushi rice size of a shooter. they charged me $7.50. needless to say my daughter even though she was a baby was still hungry. i had to ask for more rice. i was fed up so i went to the grocery and bought pita bread and ham and made her a sandwich for the next day. at least i knew she would not starve.

in summary, for most food allergies, you will have no proble, but i would bring a few snacks or sandwich to make them wait until the food is served

Scroll down to the disABILITITES section and look around there, there have been several threads about it and the FAQ there also talks about food allergies.

We went the end of May with DS with multiple food allergies and he was fine there. I think the key is to give them advance warning, and plenty of it.

Disney is the place to be if you have food allergies. My DGD has allergies to dairy and egg and was able to enjoy her entire stay. Please head to the DISabilities forum for a lot of practical advice. They gave my DD a lot of tips which ensured that she knew how to plan ahead.

I do not have first hand experience, but friends so - their DD has severe nut allery. She said Disney is the best place to travel hands down.
