Allergy/asthma & bedding question

My DD has a severe peanut allergy and severe asthma. We are staying at POP in Feb. Is it possible to have the blankets/bedspread and possibly pillows replaced with new or cleaned ones when we arrive?

We usually bring our own bedding when we travel, but we are flying and with the cost of baggage, it's just not possible for us to pack extra linens.

Should I call and put this on our room reservation as a request, or should I request it at the front desk when we check in?

This has to be done in advance and they will give you the super cleaned room and bedding. They handle all the special needs of guests. Just explain that it is due to medical reasons and what exactly you will need. They can even give guests bedding that has been washed without harsh detergents.

Yes they can do this. It is calles a special allergy clean. One of my sons is highly allergic to foods including peanuts. We asked for this and NO feather pillows either. Since they had to switch our hotel due to problems with the handicapped accessible room we booked, they came into our new hotel room right after wwe dropped off our luggage and had gone out and left a message on the phone that they had brought in specail double washed linens and re-cleaned the room. They replaced all the bedding, sheets, blankets, spread, etc. We had no problems at all.

If there is a medical need for something then it is exempt on airlines. Just pack up one suitcase with all your special needs items and they will not count that toward your total luggage and not charge you. Just in case you decide to go someplace other than WDW. There is lots of pixie dust at WDW if you know where to look for it.

We request the allergy clean when we go to. However, i will say they don't always do it. We have a no room deoterizers on our list of stuff too. Its not always done. At the check-in desk, they call house keeping to see if its done. We will walk into the room, and will instantly smell the room deoterizer.
Then we have to switch room even if they did all the other allergy clean.

So, we have to trek back to the check-in desk. This is important to know. When you call the front desk from the room. You are not talking to someone from your resort, its a central located thing. So, if you want prompt attention trek back to the check-in desk. Otherwise you could be waiting in your room a while, which may be allergic to you.

So when you get there and check out the room. take time and sniff the sheets. if you smell something,well your better off being careful instead of having a reaction.

On some occations we have gotten keys to the room, and a supervisor or quality dude was in making sure all of our requests had been done.

Personally your better off bringing your own stuff, so you know its safe. You aren't wasting your time wondering if it is safe. We have also taken to bringing our own laundry detergent and rewashing things. We are dvc so access to the washer dryer is free. But its not a fun way to spend part of your trip.

Thanks for who ever posted the medical needs suitcase is free. It would be easier for me to bring my own sheets and covers.
