Is there anyone else who is allergic to all deoderants? It is really a pain but I can't use anything. I have tried all the regular kinds as well as the special hypo allergenic ones and the natural ones. I worked in a health food store here and all my sales reps would bring me the "newest" kind of deoderant for me to try. It is horrible. I also can't use any kind of makeup especially anything on the lips. I am also only able to use one kind of soap. I don't use anything on my face except water though. Does anyone else have these problems?

I was like that years ago.......could not use roll ons, so switched to spray, then developed an allery to that & so went without for many years & it's only just the last 2-3 yrs that I've tried roll ons again & so far so good, I can tolerate them:D

Boy I'm glad I'm not the only one. I still can't use anything. I wash all the time but would feel better if I could use something but the reaction I get is NOT worth using something even for a special event.

I used to break out from deo. and I found a product in Walmart in the deo. aisle. it is a crystal rock.. I m not kidding it is true ... it is an oval shape, clear.

It works

you wet the rock and use it like normal deo..

::yes::

I was going to say I heard someone talking about a crystal also. I can't believe they are at Wal-Mart!! I figured you'd have to find some new age type of store. Out W-M doesn't even carry sunscreen after the first day of school!!

Does your dermatologist have any explainations? Have you been through allergy testing? Sometimes an allergist can find one single ingredient you are allergic to and then you can work from that. Once your skin is highy reactive, it can take a long time for allergies to subside, but eventually, if there is an allergy to an ingredient and you know and can avoid, the reactions to other products gradually ease away.

The only kind I can use is Almay gel. I even tried the crystal rock, I was not allergic to it but it did not work for me. The only place I can find either of these products is drugstore.com. It is really a pain being allergic to deodorant!!!!

Yes I have tried the crystal. It was out in health food stores years ago. One ingredient I am allergic to is propylene glycol. It is in everything it seems. My skin is just very sensitive to anything. It is really funny though because I couldn't use anything on it I also couldn't shave (but I could wax my legs and later use the epilady on my legs) and that really was not fun. Now though that I have the Remington epilator I can use it on my underarms. It does a much better job than shaving but I would have thought I would have had trouble but I guess because there was no products being used I am fine. This makes me really happy.

When I was 11 or so, not sure as Mom told me this, I could not use any kind of deoderant. I can't recall this but the Mom told me I would break out and have horrible rashes and then bleed from them. Now I am almost, gasp, 40 so it was a long time ago. She told me that by the time I was 16 Degree had come out and I could use only that. I do not have any problems now with anything!

My DH developed an allergy to deodorants about 5 yrs ago. He had to go to a Dermotologist because the reaction was so bad. The doctor told him to start using the crystal and he's been fine since. I was very sceptical at first because he's always warm and I thought he'd be sweaty and stinky:faint: but it's worked great for him.

If you know the allergin, can an allergist give immunotherapy injections (allergy shots) to try to build up tolerance to the substance. I know they can't with food trigers, but they seem to be able to throw most any other bizarre stuff into the serum!

Actually my own Dr. and the allergist I saw both just said to stay away from the products that caused the problems. Because they are not something that is necessary (lipstick) or something I can't stay away from there was really nothing that they could do or were willing to do because any medicine I have taken (except for my thyroid medicine) seems to cause more reactions. So the cure would probably be worse than the problem. I have a lot of reactions to things and most are okay to stay away from, I just wish sometimes I could wear deoderant. Apparently I don't smell bad because when I have talked about it to others they said they wouldn't have know if I hadn't of said anything.
