Allegiant to MCO

I was wondering about our flight because we leave Grand Rapids, MI on Feb 4 and leave Orlando on the Feb 14. I just checked the site and we fly into Stanford, but out of MCO. This works great for us because we are renting a car to go to Titusville Thursday night and will be dropping it off once we reach Disney on Friday and were trying to decide how to get back to Stanford. I wonder how many people are totally unaware of this fact. I would not have known if I did not see this posting and then check the flights.

Tara:

I flying out of ABE on friday on Airtran and for the 2 of us it was 318 round trip total, i think it was l like 69 before taxes each each way. we didnt pay the extra to pick our seats looks like the plane isnt full so we will take our chances

we fly out of philly last year on airtran and would rather drive to A-town then philly - wish we would get airtran at AVP but that aint happening.

here we have the cont flight that goes to newark but its hit or miss as to whether or not you get a plane or a bus and they dont advise until you are actually at the airport - happened to us in may when we were leaving for a cruise they sent us in a van when we got to the airport and we missed our connecting flight because of an accident on the highway - good thing i decided to leave a day early for the cruise.

AVP or ABE? Because AirTran flies to Allentown/ABE non-stop from both Orlando and Miami/Lauderdale.

i am flying on airtran from ABE to MCO on friday 12/11 but ABE is about an hour to an hour and a half from my house - i wish airtran or something similar would come to AVP so i dont have to drive that far to catch a flight - if you fly out of AVP there are no direct flights and the fares are so high its unbelievable

I think this is a mistake on Allegiant's part. They have been one of the few airlines making a profit lately and they do it because of their low fares, not their convenience. If MCO is going to cost large higher amounts in landing fees to fly there, the fares must be higher and their competitive advantage evaporates.

The article in the Orlando Sentinel indicated that Allegiant didn't think it made sense to fly into two Orlando airports. So I believe MCO is just a case study to gauge success. If people keep flying them, look for all flights to move to MCO. If they can't fill the planes then look for them to remain at SFB. It will be a major blow to SFB if they move out!

While flying into MCO would be much more convenient for those headed to the theme parks, Allegiant customers are very price sensitive and have been willing to conquer the inconvenience of SFB because of the low fares. If those low fares disappear, the move may not be a good thing for air travelers in the long run.
