i usually travel out of Portland, Maine to Orlando. I live in New Brunswick. Bangor just doesn't seem to have the good seat sales they to have.

Just wondering about Allegiant Air out of Bangor. Do their prices go down for March break ? They are very high right now...

Has anyone from Atlantic Canada flown with them in the past?

Many Thanks

Bangor doesn't fly to MCO, so you cant use Disney Transportation. So if you get a deal from BGR add in the cost of transportation both ways ... from Sandford

I haven't used Bangor, but if the price was right I would

I've been thinking about Alligent Air too but there flight times/days are so limited. I'd love to go to Tamp to see a friend for a long weekend in Nov but with Allegient I'd have to arrive late Fri and leave mid day Mon...not much of a long weekend. Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll expand service. I have to drive from NS and wouldn't mind saving those extra couple hours to get to Portland.

I've looked into the transportation rates from Sanford to Disney ...

see this link http://www.orlandocarriers.com/rates_sanford.php

Looks like my Family of 5 would cost me an extra $300 US by going thru Sanford. Ouch .... that would be offset by the driving distance from BGR to Portland, but still a big ouch!

Just curious about how things work from Portland. I have always gone to MCO from manchester,NH via SWA. I have found them to usually have cheaper flights, and more non stop flights at the times I like. Early arrivals and late departures. You also have no fee flight changes with SWA using their credits. So if you find a reduced flight later on, you don't waste the money saved, you just bank the credit for next trip, and there's no charge to change the flight.

I have been looking at Jet blue out of Portland, but don't like the idea of going through JFK. I have also read that sometimes a non-stop flight gets switched to a stop in JFK after you have booked? Is this true and does it happen often.

I also travel from the Halifax area and would love to shave off some driving but haven't been sold on Jet Blue yet. Just hoping to get some first hand experience from those in the know.;)

We have found that Air Tran has always been cheaper for us than Jet Blue out of Portland:goodvibes. Air Tran has direct flights to Orlando and we have never paid more than $220.00 pp cdn (we go late summer). ;)

You're actually making NH sound pretty good to me!

I priced a "pretend" trip for November and Jetblue and AirTran were identical in pricing....$214 Can ....makes it so tempting when it's $489 at a minimum out of Halifax.

Did you factor in Jetblue and Airtran Baggage costs

I know JetBlue is free for First Bag, but Airtran is $15 for the first Bag. This adds up for my party of 5.

Very Curious to see the Manchester rates!

I have 5 flying out of Portland in November for $1,252 US all costs in ... arrived 1:50pm in Orlando, stops in JFK (could go cheaper with late arrival, but Wife would kill me) :littleangel:

Why can't we get good deals out of Halifax? For April I still can't come up under $800. each for the two of us. That would be a reall downer if you had to pay that for a family.

Last year I bought 5 tickets from Halifax to Orlando for February for less than 500 with all taxes in ... I think around $470 each. (in 2007 I paid about 550 each) This year has been bonkers for prices. I even tried 5 tickets on westjet for my dates and that was over $4000.

The best I can get through aircanada ... for 5 people is ...

Departing Flight (Tango Plus) 1245.00
Returning Flight (Tango Plus) 1910.00
Options 0.00
Taxes, fees, charges and surcharges 724.55 < - - -OMG
Grand Total - Canadian dollars $3879.55

Plus the timing of the fights are bad ... get to MCO at 11:30pm ....

We too looked at Allegiant out of Bangor however like the previous poster said..their prices are a little on the high side and days are very limited..plus they fly into Sanford rather than MCO.

We were REALLY hoping & planning on Airtran from Portland for our March Break trip however they still haven't released their Web Special prices and I'm afraid if I keep putting it off I'll miss out all together :sad2:

Last night I came across SW out of Manchester and the direct flights and price has me VERY interested. We're planning on March 13 - 27 give or take 3 days on either side for flexibility. What's SW like? I've never flown them before...or from Manchester. Our other option is Jet Blue from BOS. I was really hoping for something a little closer to home..but when the price is that good what's another couple of hours? :thumbsup2 I've never flown Jet Blue either...our last trip we flew Delta from BOS.

I read SW has an "Open Seating Policy"..what is that exactly? We're a family of 5 and we have 3 children so naturally I'd want to be with them.

Also, I have a fear of flying so I'll only fly non stop

I've heard good things about southwest out of Manchester. Plus it is easy to get in and out of Manchester. The problem with Logan is Boston Roads ... Driving in Boston is nuts ... save yourself the grief and pick Portland or Manchester.

After my trip in November I will know what the sleep park and fly is like for 5 at embassy suites in Portland, so that may be an option for you.

I booked 3 adult fares with Jetblue for October departure from Portland to Orlando direct and a November return. The 3 tickets totalled $642.00 USD about $750 CDN add the $139.00 for park and fly at the Hampton Inn and $120.00 gas (we are driving from Charlottetown, P.E.I.) and a meal or 2 we are still saving over a thousand dollars compared to flying out of Charlottetown on either Westjet or Air Canada (they wanted $2400.00). My only decision left is whether to drive my Chevy Malibu or Pontiac Vibe to Portland.

Yes there are really good deals out of Portland with both Jetblue and Airtran..however they seem to *end* at the end of February :sad1:

Congrats on getting a good deal!! :thumbsup2

I should have checked this before I posted so I could be wrong but I SWEAR I saw Air Tran flights out of Portland for $79 one way non stop from Portland to MCO for May 1st and $79 return on May 8th

I probably should have said "stoped for the month of March".

You probably are right..however they aren't realeasing the "Web Special" non stop prices for March (usually $70 - $89 each way)..I've been waiting since Sept. I think they are on to us Canadians trying to go over our March Break ;)

I see $99 each way now ... adds to 256.60 each with taxes in (plus add any bag fees)
