Allegiant bag fee?

We've never flown Allegiant before and I'm trying to decide if it's the best deal for us.

The 3 of us usually take 3 carry on bags so that we avoid fees when flying a major airline. But since it is $13 per bag per route I'm thinking if I could get by with only checking one bag at $19.99 it would be cheaper.

Does this sound right? It seems so backward to what we usually do

I was just looking at their site and their added fees for everything. I cant believe that they want you to pay for a carryon now. As long as your bag isnt going to be over the weight limit, that would be cheaper for you.

They have dropped the weight that you are allowed on the checked bag now also. Only 40 lbs now (instead of 50) You'd be surprised how fast you hit that 40lb limit before the bag is even close to being full
