We are considering flying Allegiant to SFB for our first Disney trip. The tickets are much cheaper than flying into MCO even with a rental car for the week! I know that Allegiant is known for nickeling and diming you to death though. My question- if you have flown them before, how much extra did you end up paying on top of the tickets/taxes themselves?

We are flying Allegiant into SFB on April 29th. Rental cars are more expensive through SFB, than MCO.

We did not pay the flex fee, or the seating fee, or the priority boarding fee, nor for any checked bags. From what I have read on the Transportation board, it is likely you will get seated together with your family. (If you have really small children and you are worried, you can pay the fee for assigned seats). Our room reservations were non-refundable, so we knew we were not going to cancel, so no flex fee. IF we had paid all the fees, we might as well have been flying another carrier into MCO.

If you want to know more of people's experience, check out the Transportation boards.

We didn't pay for assigned seats (I think that was an extra $10 or $15 per ticket) or priority boarding either. Checked baggage fee is $50 per bag. Other than that the required fees/taxes on our tickets added up to about an extra $60 per ticket (round trip)
Sanford airport is also pretty small and easy to navigate. There are car rental companies right there and the drive to Disney is easy but takes about 45-60 minutes. We always fly into Sanford when we go to Disney!

We were flying with small kids and didn't want to risk being separated, so we paid the extra for seat assignments. I have flown them before though with just two adults and never paid for seat assignments nor would I.

We do carry-on pretty much exclusively now, so I also don't pay baggage fees.

Do be careful when booking through their website. They default in all the added extra fees and you have to deselect them or you get charged.

We've had great luck flying allegiant.

Oh, one other big advantage with Allegiant is that it's all non-stop flights. From my hometown, non-stop flights are pretty much impossible to get through other carriers without paying a huge premium.

Tickets with tax w/o any extra for two was $277.50.(cheaper rates because its an intro fare just opened up flying to SFB from Laredo Tx). We added in trip flex $39.96, seat selection $55, bag $39.98, convience fee ( because we booked online) $ 29.96. Total for two after all that = $443.64. No parking fees at airport which saves us alot of money and its a small airport.

Next time we probably wont check bags or assign seats and go in person to book to save a bit.

Hope that answers your question. That being said we are traveling with 6 so we did assigned seats and bag fees and saved alot of money in long run. I have never flown them but stil WAY cheaper than other airlines and its nonstop. GOin to give it a try and see how it goes.

For good rental car rates try www.carrentalsavers.com instead of booking with Allegiant.

Or if you need a minivan try these codes at budget BCDX474200 and coupon code MUGZ029 for $30 off grand total at SFB for $298. Have a good trip

We have never paid for assigned seating through Allegiant. If you have children under 7, you are allowed to board directly after the paid seating assignments. Also, if you live near the airport or will be nearby, you can purchase your tickets at the Allegiant desk and save the convenience fee that you get charged by phone or online. They are only open an hour after scheduled flights.
